Loud squeal from breaks

Hey guys quick but probably easy question for you. I went and checked out an evo ix Mr and when breaking at low speeds and through turns the brakes made a loud squeal noise. When i asked the owner about this he said its normal for racing brakes to do that. Is that accurate or were the brakes not properly broken in? Anything that can be done about the squeal? Thanks. Edit realized I spelled "Brakes" wrong in the title....oops

in order to help you better we need to know what pads the car has. But yes, evos tend to have noisy brakes specially when using certain pads. Solution is to clean calipers and make sure all pins/clips are properlly seated, also you can use some brake lube, and finally you can just change pads altogether for a set that is less noisy. Good luck.

Yeah, I was running the Hawk street pads and they had 0 squeal. I'm not running EBC Yellow pads and they squeal a little on slow braking.

So they can depending on the pad and type.

Or... He may just have been saying that because the car needs new brakes. You need to visualy inspect the brakes and rotors, then if all is ok ask what pads he is using. Sometimes it can just be debris and brake dust, in that case you can remove the wheels and spray the rotors thoroughly with brake clean, be careful not to get it on the caliper finish. If some gets near the pads its ok. I always use a paste on the backing plate for the pads, I recommend Mercedes Benz Copper brake paste. They have alot of issues with noisy brakes and they made this stuff to replace the graphite stuff Benz was using.
One last effort you can do, which I dont personally recommend if you autox or track the brake pads, is to take them off and soak the pad material in BG stop squeal. It quiets them down good, but it seriously makes your brakes feel spongy..

well its either racy pads or low pad indicator is hitting the rotors... did you check pad thickness?

regardless either no matter what its not a major maintenance (cost wise)

most of the aftermarket pads squeel thats just the way it is (from what I know). And also
make sure your rotors are clean and aren't warped

If the pads happen to be racing pads, it will take a while for them to heat up to operating temperature as they are for track use only and on the street its hard to even get them to heat up at all, but most aftermarket pads will also squeak, pretty common issue. I'd just check for wear and if they're fine leave them, unless you hate the noise that much, then change them.

Squeak/Squeal is normal operation for any Hi-Performance brake kit.

When I worked for Nissan and customers complained we were instructed to change the pad to a softer mixed brake pad. And of course I forget what the compound was called.

Sorry for the hijack, but what would be an indication of a warped rotor?

The sound from the brakes bothered me a lot early on, now I'm use to it.
