Evo IX ACD Questions

So I test drove this guys Evo IX and everything is great, except this one time I came to a stop, at a stop sign. There was this very slight noise that came from the drivers side front. I don't know if I would call it a howling sound but it definitely wasn't a screeching noise. The guy did tell me he had to replace the ACD pump, and from my knowledge the pump is located in that location, right? If I am wrong please correct me.

Anyway, if there is an ACD pump failure what kind of noise does it make? Does it even make a noise, or would you just find out from the lights?

I definitely would like to buy the car, but before I do I am going to take a look at it one more time. Are there any other issues in particular that I should be looking for when shopping for a IX?

If the acd pump is bad all 3 lights would probably be on on the dashboard. Yes the acd pump is located on the driver side. As for noises im not sure what type of noise it would make if it was going but if u do buy it make sure he bleeds the acd system before u pick it up.
If u r looking to buy an evo there is a guide in the stickies of the newbie section because people ask these types of questions all the time very helpful stuff in there. Read up on the maintenance schedule so if u get another chance to ask about the car u know what preventative maintenance needs to be done at the mileage the car is sitting at and u can ask accordingly.

sounds like it needs new pads considering you were coming to a stop when you heard the screeching sound

sounds like brakes. Other things to check for are regular maintenance records, transmission and shifting, etc. There's a great checklist in the newbie FAQs

Thanks for all the responses. I will definitely take a closer look.

Anyway, anyone selling a blue IX? I need a backup car(s), if this doesn't work out.

ACD pump is very expensive to fix, my friend bought an evo with an bad acd pump, got a good deal that still cost him 700 installed, then got into an accident and needed another ACD pump..the 2nd time around he didn't find such a great deal and just took the ACD out.

the 3 ACD lights didn't come on until he had the car for a while...even then he could get the lights to turn off for a while

if it was the brake pads then its no biggie, my car with new brakes makes noise, but that's because of the pad.
