New SE Owner from Eastern Washington

Hello,

My name is Brandon and I just purchased a Wicked White 2010 SE. I actually posted some pre-sale questions here a couple months ago and got some good info that nearly led me to buy an MR Touring. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a stretch for my budget and I had some personal distractions that caused me to miss out on that one (I would however, recommend the dealer, KarMart, for anyone in Western Washington).

Much to my surprise, the local dealer here in Spokane (Appleway) called a few days ago and said they got an SE in stock. I naturally went right down to check it out and drive it and was quite surprised. The price is a bit less than the MR Touring and Mitsu left enough of the good bits to make it a really good value. After a little negotiation, they took my leased car in on trade and gave me a really good deal and I'm now the proud owner of an Evo!

I work as an IT Manager and have 2 grade school boys, so a 4 door is a must (the boys absolutely love the Evo, but they wish it had the wing!). Plus, we get a lot of snow here, so AWD is a big help. And, I really like to AutoX and do HPDE events, so I think I found the perfect car!

I hope to learn a lot more from all of you and look forward to a long fun relationship with the new Evo! Take care...

Brandon

It's funny you should ask about what kind of winter we get here in Spokane, WA, as the last 3 winters have each been record or near record breaking! Last year, we had the 3rd least snowiest winter with only 15 inches total. I don't remember it sticking around overnight at all last year - just very wet and rainy. The year before, we had the number 1 snowiest winter on record with 96 inches (I think) - it was crazy! We had 2 feet of snow in one storm the week before Christmas, which literally shut the city down for about 3 days while everyone dug out. The news media even named it "snowpocalypse" (corny, I know) as roofs were collapsing around town and most arterials were down to 1 lane for a month or more making traffic a nightmare. And the year before that, we had the 3rd snowiest winter with 92 or so inches, but it was a little more spread out through the season. In the 10 or so years prior to the 2 crazy snowy winters, it was more typical of a northern state - 40 or so inches that sticks around a week here and a week there, but generally cold and rainy. You'll definitely want to buy a set of snow tires for your Evo here.

And in regards to Moses Lake, I only pass through it every couple of months or so, on my way to meetings in Seattle or Olympia. Nice town, though! We dragged our boat over there a few years ago and camped on the beach and had a great time. I've only seen a few other Evos in the area, so we must be part of a pretty exclusive club around here. :-)

What are the differences between a GSR, SE, and MR? I see your SE is wingless but I didnt notice any other exterior changes.

I am going to die. I don't know if my body can adjust to that type of weather. I come from a place were 40 degrees is freezing and it hasn't snowed since 1982. I have to find some way out of going to Fairchild, I don't think my body will be able to take it.

Yeah I haven't seen too many evos in eastern WA. I know they are there but guys just don't take them out much. There's probably like 3 in Moses lake including mine. So is the 4b11 pretty peppy?
