Hey guys, I just bought my first evo. I was an S2000 guy and have converted as i moved back from the desert to the snowy midwest and AWD was a necessity. Its a white 06, took forever to find one without a sunroof... It is crazy the power difference between it and most of the other cars i have owned. It seems to have an intermittent grind into 5th gear, anyone have any advice on that, and cost to fix? Its a 5spd btw. I am active on a bunch of the other fourms as Autoxgti983 or this one...

 

try shifter bushing, if that dont work change tranny fluid to redline, if that dont work you might have to look into new syncros.

 

If it grinds it's usually synchros... especially if bought used... and if that's a problem, you might wanna double check the car for other issues... usually means it was pushed hard. congrats on car btw!

Thanks guys, figured it was syncros and im sure it was prob used pretty hard as it doesnt even have 40k on it yet, but it was a decent enough deal and the exact package and color so I am ok with fixing a few things plus the add ons I am gonna do to make it more track friendly. Any ideas on how much parts/labor on 5th gear syncro jobs go for?
