highest miles on a oem timing belt

i'm curious to see if anyone has put any high miles on a oem timing belt. i know the replacement schedule is 60k, but i'm sure a few people have gone past 60k miles.

hope to see some feedback

Well, I got my car at 83k miles. At 90k I decided to take it in to get a full service. I didn't know if the timing belt was changed at 60k or not so I played it safe and had it changed at 90k.

So to answer your question mine may or may not have been changed at 60k, but if it wasn't, then the oem timing belt lasted to 90k.

i'm at 70k and the belt still looks good, so it makes me wonder how long it would last. if i had the money, then i would just do the timing kit.

any mods before replacing the belt?

pretty stupid to play games with this topic change the belt last thing you need is for a stupid 100 belt to break causing havoic and then costing you another 3500 or more because you were to cheap to replace the belt

agree with you a 100%. Why would you want to to chance your motor for a belt?

If you do not have the money to properly maintenence the car you should probably be driving something else.

I would def not recommend just replacing the belt the hydrolic tensioner, and such is just as critical.

So if the belt breaks because you do not have the money to replace the timing components. Then what are you gonna do???? Cause if you ever wanna drive your EVO again after that you'll be 3-4k in easy

i already know the importance to the timing belt. i just find it interesting how they can take so much abuse and last as long as they do. the point behind this thread is to see how long people have had them last. i did a timing belt on a civic that had 186k miles. original belt. no idea how it lasted that long, but at the same time it was pretty cool to see.

I would recommend sticking to the books. The timing belt is not that expensive. Save money now by not having catastrophic failure. That will cost an arm and a leg. Some things just aren't meant to gamble. This being one of them.

I understand that I'm a dumbass for not changing it, but I have 110k on my stock timing belt. it's going to get replaced soon.

Your laziness can come back to haunt you and your wallet.

It doesn't matter. The timing belt gets weak and the grooves wear down over time. 110K is insane.

Lol, I remember reading a thread were someone had about 110k and it snapped. I know they lost all the valves. I can
't remember about the bottom end though.
