Did i get enough fluid in (Tcase)?

Had my evo for all of 5 days, but since i am moving the end of the week and the driveline fluids had 25k miles on them i decided it would be good to change them. I would call myself an experienced DIY'er, since ive built honda motors and done plenty of my own car maintenance, but i guess due to the huge cost of a new transfer case im a little wary here.

Tutorial on here says it should take about 0.6 quarts. I am using the amsoil bottle pump, had the car as level as possible (had to have it jacked a tiny bit, tire still on ground, from the passenger side) so i could keep the oil tray under it. pumped in fluid until it was coming out on the rag i had laying on the downpipe, and yes the hose was still snug in the fill hole.

bottle on the left is what i used for the tcase, right was rear diff. rear diff i definitely had more spillage out of the fill hole, and that one was easier so im pretty sure that is full enough.

sorry for the absoute newb thread

As long as the fluid comes out the hole your all set.

To be 100% sure the full, it's best to fill the t-case with the car on level ground. You will prob have to pump a full qt of fluid, cause it's said the Evo t-case isn't always completely full even if fluid spills out fill hole.

blah that scares me.

it was as level as i could, only like two pumps on the jack so i could get an arm under the car (its lowered).

i guess maybe ill drive it a little tonight and maybe upmp some more fluid in tomorrow if i get a chance. it certainly sounds quieter already though.

the bottle on the left looks like it filled the rear diff ?

btw it looks about right, as long as fluid started gushing out the hole your good.

nope left was tcase right was rear diff, rear diff had a good amount spilling out when i removed the pump hose.

drove it ~10 miles, the drivetrain is EXTREMELY quite now, kinda freaked me out as to the change from when i picked up the car the other day, and figured it was just the noise of awd. im thinking the 2nd gear lockout when cold might be fixed with new fluid in the trans now too...

i will never go over 15k on fluids after this experience

The ACD cases have a much smaller passage for the oil to go through in the diff so you have to wait longer for the fluid to actually work through there. If you haven't pumped .6 into it and it starts coming out the fill plug you may actually have not put enough in. Wait several minutes for it to work through the passages in the diff then pump some more until it all goes in. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I think you got it right man. it asks for like .5L in tc and .6 in rear diff... or other way around. either way your good lol.

after doing the transmission fluid this afternoon, i popped open the case case and pumped a tad more in. took maybe a shot glass worth or 2 at most, i feel better thinking its a little over full than not filled enough at least.

thanks for the help guys.
