Will an evo 8 suspension work on an evo 4
Rears will bolt straight in but the fronts won't without some extra mods.
The evo1-6 front knuckle shock mount is thinner than the evo7-9s and the later evos use M14 bolts while the earlier ones use M12 bolts.
So to get it to work you will need some spacers made to take up the gap and either drill out your knuckle to take the larger bolts or get some sleeves made to reduce the diameter on the shock.

Drill knuckle mount point to accept larger bolt. And then a couple spacers
Or sleeve strut bracket for smaller bolt at knuckle mount. And then a couple spacers.
Can you just switch the knuckle?
I've been meaning to get a hold of an evo7-9 knuckle and compare it to my evo6 one.
I do know the steering rack is lower on the evo7-9s whichs mean a change in the position of the tie rod mount on the knuckle which could mean bump steer issues if used on an earlier evo.
