Newb From Canada

Hey guys my name is Tommy. I just recently sold my 2005 sti. The car had some basic bolt ons to make it stage 2. The car was very fun and reliable but I always wanted an evo. I recently put a deposit on a White 2005 Evo SSL in miami. The car is mint and has 39xxx Miles on it. It has a few mods which I have a few questions about. Here is a list of the mods; Exeedy spec clutch, Tein suspension, RSR Down pipe, RSR Exhaust, Greddy Gravity wheels. Apexi Turbo timer, Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller, Apexi Super Air Fuel controller to monitor engine vitals, Injen intercooler piping kit with Injen filter, APS Blow off Valve, Perrin large front mount intercooler/ DC sports equal length tubular manifold. JDM front lights. EVO 9 Tail lights. Everything seems to be pretty good except for the Apexi super air fuel controller. From what ive reserached, this isnt the best way of tuning the evo. From what the owner told me, the car was tuned on a dyno so im not too sure what he has the SAFC for. Anyways, everything else seems to be pretty good and the car looks perfect overall. I am flying to miami next weekend and cannot wait! Anything I should look at before I pay for this car? I did some research and mostly know what to look for. What would you guys suggest about tuning for the car. Should I have the car re-tuned in Canada for the different elevation and overall climate? From what I have read, a tuner can tune the car through the stock Ecu? Sorry for the dumb questions but I am just starting to learn about these cars. Thank you for your time.

Tommy

hey tommy! very nice to see another fellow canadian member that owns/will own an old generation(ct9a) evo here in toronto.

i came from subaru background as well,(had two subie in a row). evo's are very similar to subies in terms of tuning. they can be tuned via stock ecu, i.e. stock ecuflash via openecu(ecuflash) software. just like the romraider for subies.

speaking of tuning locally, magnus is the only(maybe one of the best places) you wanna go. they have been tuning same engine(4g63) based dsm's for over 15 yrs experiences. however, they are very busy so make sure make an appointment. marco is the owner of that shop, and he is a very nice guy to dealing with.

if you have any other questions in terms of tuning, pm me.

oh, right, i almost forget about it. get rid of that apexi safc.
