My wife tolerates mine. MY EVO IS my girlfriend! Just ask my wife who the other woman in my life is and she'll tell you.

But it was definitely allowed by my wife. First, she acknowledged I'd gone above and beyond the call of duty for driving POS's. Second, she let me take my (then) 7 year old son to the 2008 St. Louis Auto Show ON A WEEKNIGHT to go see an Evo X in person and take a look at it close up. Third, she let me make a downpayment calculated from three years of savings while she ran a daycare and I was funnelling dough into a startup business.

I'd love to rant about it being SO versatile, but other than sporting around 5 ppl comfortably in and decent fuel economy, it does have downsides:
-Trunk isn't that large, just enough for a smallish grocery run
-Tires come and they go, but they mostly just go
-It scares my wife when she's driving and feels the boost kicks in

yeah I know the feeling, my wife thinks that I love my car more than her. I know any other car I buy will be one that I have fun driving, so far that is my evo, and after convincing my wife about it soon i may be looking at getting a new 2011 MR-T, that way she can drive it too, and that it has heated seats and all, which is what she wants.

Classic post, OP. Chuckled the whole way through! Unsuspecting coworkers are the best, cause when you walk up to the car they get make their first judgement (usually bad or awkward...unless they know anything about cars), but that first drive says it all.

Choice comments:
Wife- Is this LEGAL??

70+ year old lady down the street- I love the way your car sounds, it's so powerful, it purrs!

I'd say the HKS TBE howls more than purrs, but hey, I won't argue with that!

hahaha....OP, that's hilarious. I have an 04 ralliart so i don't have the wing, vortex, and a less aggressive styling and my coworkers continue to crack fast and furious jokes daily.

Only my friends that don't know much about cars laugh at my Evo's and Sti's. Once I let them drive it, they start to get it. The ladies never seem to love them, but I know that my wife and my last girlfriend have appreciated the boost.

cbrd bbk full turbo
ets ic pipes
buschur street fmic
ported exhaust manifold
walbro fuel pump
pte 780cc injectors
perrin intake
grimmspeed bcs
IX diverter

My plans were to do the following ASAP.
Change all fluids.
Compression check
Timing belt and Serpentine belt (performance belts, Gates, etc.. or stock belts)?
Gauges (boost,oil, ???)

Appreciate input concerning plans. Would you add anything else?

Not to scare you but I would have had the compression test done before buying the car...I'm guessing if Timing belt is on your list is hasn't been done yet...11.0 a/f r is conservative, so a little more power can be pulled out of it...I agree with changing all your engine/drivetrain fluids, compression test/boost leak test....Timing belt and Serp belt might as well be done at the same time...If you are going to do gauges, at least do boost and Air fuel, if you want throw in oil pressure...those are the 3 I have...

My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy for picking one up. She was there with me at the time. She misses the luxury of my old car and the leather. She gets all squeemish when I gas it.
