Tire pressure horribly wrong on my new Lancer

Hey all, new to this whole thing.

I just got my new 2002 Mitsubish Lancer, OZ Rally. I checked all the basic maintenance things, to get familiar with the vehicle under the hood. Much to my surprise the tire pressures were all 41psi. This exceeded the max stamped on the tire of 35 and the Mitsubishi recommended values of 29psi front and 26psi rear.

Do dealers just keep filling the tires until they "feel right"?

Stephen

prob a tech's fault, when new cars come from the factory their tires are inflated to or over max psi. The tires are supposed to be checked as part of the PDI process which involves removing the plastic etc.

My tires came out of the dealer filled a little over 35 but not more then 40.
