Is it worth the money to do so because I drive my car on highway a lot. (I travel from san diego to LA at least twice a week)

Or should I do a 4.11 final drive? or 6spd and 4.11 final drive?

I am trying to reduce the cruise rpm for less noise and better mpg. Since a lot ppl do 6 to 5spd swap so it should be easy to get a 6spd tranny.

 

just do the 4.11 in 5 speed.. the 6 speed is junk anyways.. it would also save you money just to do the 5 speed 4.11 bec you all ready have the tranny..

people who say 6speeds are junk are..... for lack of a better word dumb... Sure put 500whp threw any transmission you will have problem. launch off the 2 step @7,000rpm and flat shift 2nd gear... its going to **** up your synchronizers. I have driven both 5 speeds and 6 speeds. Personally i can not stand the 5 speed. it feels like a notchy mustang. its gross. 6 speed shifts like butter all the time. great gearing. If you are looking to go 11s and slam it 200 times a day i suggest you look into the shep upgrade for the 6 speed box. so glad my car came with a 6 speed and not a notchbox. im sure you can trade your 5 speed stuff for 6 speed.

 

werd. I love my 6 speed. I also find it stupid that people bad mouth the 6 speed so much, as if it's such a travesty to have it in an EVO when every other country uses the 6 speed as STANDARD equipment. Including all of the FQ 8 and 9 models.

 

I have a 6 speed. Good for highway, & it came standard with the car, as well as automatic climate control & SAYC. But then again, my car cost more than 2x what you US guys paid.

 

I have no problem with my 6 speed and closing on 100k (knocks on wood)

 

I love my 6 speed. Of course, I'm not Brian Spilner either.

 

Thanks for all the comments but please keep them positive. I understand the 6spd may not be as strong but I have not heard anybody really breaking it. Plus, my goal is a 400whp car that I can commute with. I may go to 1 or 2 track events and prolly never gonna drag race it. I will consider trades (PENDING as of 0038 PST Nov 17).

If you really want 6 spd that much then do it, if your not satisfied then do the gears. Just an fyi 6th gear 70-75mph is 3k iirc (stock everything). What rpm is the 5pd at?
