Evo 7 to Evo8

What are the differences between the two parts wise because i bought a swap from jdm engine depot and im having so many problems with parts like for instance i bought a transfercase with a deathwine and tried putting the tail end on my front diff i got with the swap and they dont line up the same so now im worried if the tranny is gonna work with an evo8 rear end if the ratios are the same.

I don't know the full details, but I think it's enough of a difference to make it a real pain in the ***.

evo 4-8 engines are the same and interchangeable. the harnesses are different but do not need to be switched. tranny from 4 is same 8. t-cases are different and not interchangeable.

I stole this from somewhere in the forums. Best to search t-cases and see what pops up.

remember the 7 has AYC, ACD, and an LSD which the 8 does not. So yeah the t-case will be a little off on lining up. That could be on of the reasions the 8 t-case is shimmed wrong.

^ true. It was a bad idea for buying jdm drivetrain components for usdm evos cuz usdm didnt come with jdm specs(ayc,anti-lag,etc).

You're not completely screwed, you can re-sell it. I hope your calandar is open for something like that.

Hope I am not in the wrong place... I have an EVO VII and was looking for help. I am new to the forum, so I get lost easily. I wanted to find a more aggressive EVO VII hood as seen on the rally model. I have an RS2, so it has the two vents in front, but not the aggressive lift in front like all american EVOs have before their vents. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help I get.

@k3vmaster--->I got my Evo 7 from a company that doesn't exist anymore that specialized in importing cars, mainly Evos.

What kind of "useless" parts do you have? My wife has an Evo 8 that was bought used by an amateur mechanic who was sort of clueless (like me, but at least I admit it)... so she is missing parts that Mitsu is just asking too much for... if they are Evo 8 parts, maybe we can work something out...?

L3vmaster, you can see alot of that stuff fairly easily. I dont remember who exactly, maybe RMR or someone on the west coast does rally racing using Evo7's and buys used parts up. Post the stuff for sale, we also have a few members here with Evo7's who im sure wouldnt mind having a spare transfer case laying around. Maybe even put it on ebay, the JDM valve cover is worth some money too, hell, if you want, I will buy the valve cover from you (I already have on my car car now).
