Logic should tell you 170,000 miles is a lot for a car. But if it looks good in person(since you posted no photos). Then I guess it could be "good". So far this looks like a bad idea to me.

Do you mind me asking how much you will be paying for it?
Also, are there any modifications? # of owners? Clean title? Interior/exterior appearance look good?

IF this is your only car and will be daily driving it, I would certainly have it checked out by a shop before the purchase... I would be a bit hesistant until then and would be until i spent money going through it making sure the major things were replaced or fixed.

If your stealing the car ( which you should ) and basically building it from scratch then yes its a great idea.

Why would you buy something that "has had the crap beat out of it"

It is a good idea , so when people ask how much miles it got you tell them "170,000 and still rocking"

But seriously take all the precautions high mileage doesn't have to be bad , just that it has been driven alot. and it this case alot.

Good Luck

wow, at least thats a testament of the quality of the car if you take care of it! but I personally wouldn't buy a turbo car used especially one with that high of mileage on it.
