Living in SoCal there are no cons to eliminating them. Heck, I did it in MN and had zero adverse effects.

my main concern is that if you soak heat you wont be able to lower the temps, now i pretty sure if you just drag race youll be fine.

Coolant running through the throttle body is designed to heat it up, not cool it down, which is why it's a decent free-mod to reroute the lines.

HUH

As Kracker said coolant through the TB is meant to heat it and keep it from freezing up/sticking in cold weather. Not to cool it down. Mine are bypassed as well and have been for years in NE winters w/o issue

I've been wondering how this works too. This is much harder to trace because its different then the old DSM throttle bodies, plus you can't take them apart.

Con:
-If you remove the coolant hose you might be keeping the fast idle air system open. This could cause some uncontrolled Idle when the car is warm in the cold.
(Fast Idle Air.. know as FIA is what allows the car to open up another air passage to let in more air for cold starts) Assuming the TB has a FIA

Pro:
-You will not have 190+ Fahrenheit coolant running into the throttle body this might help keep your air temps down. Probably not by much.

It is needed if you live in cold climate where there is a chance of the the throttle plate frozen shut.
Just make sure it doesn't leak when you remove/re-routing it.

I'm going to bump this existing thread so i don't have to start a new one. I pulled off my TB today to clean it and put my new seals into it.

One of the coolant lines for it is covered in black gunk. I would assume some kind of carbon deposit build up. Is this bad or is this something normal?? And should I just clean the hoses going to the TB??

the only con to this is if you live in a cold area, the car will stay in the high idle mode longer. not a big deal at all. i been running no coolant in my TB for a while now
