Over revved evo

So today I was driving along and decided to rip on my car a little. I hadn't floored it in like a week and just wanted to hit full boost. I over revved second gear hit the limiter and my car back fired. As soon as my car backfired my service engine soon light came on. I'm running rich since the my walbro install months ago and I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Any ideas on whyatmight have happened? I'm going to have it plugged into a scanner at autozone tomorrow. I also notice that my boosy is now only peaking at 18 pounds and is building weird. I could be paranoid, but I dont think so.

Edit: I had the car scanned and a p0234 code for overboost came on. In the description for overboost on the slip the give you it says
1. turbocharger wastegate actuator failure
2. Charging pressure control system faulty

So i'm going to pick up a stock actuator from FP and have it over nighted. Is there anything else that this could possibly mean? I feel like the only thing it could be is a wastegate given the definitions on ther slip.

Thats kinda strange, maybe something that has to do with the exhaust went? I reved my car to around 7.2~7.5k by mistake one day. I was moving slowly and i wanted to launch the car in first. So i reved it and it blew past the 5k rev limiter in first. Some smoke came out of the hood but that was about it.

now that the check engine light is on, does the car idle any different? when you ginned it you could have blown a vaccum line or God knows what, but the best bet is a code reader.

My exhaust did sound funny after it happened. I doubt it was fuel cut if I'm running rich after the walbro.

evo's have a tendency to run on the richer side as it is, remember; better to run a bit rich then lean.

correct, no tune on the car. Would this mishap cause problems in the long run? Dident smell at all, at first i thought it was the rain hitting the manifold heat shield. Was only drizzling so it couldent of been that XD.

definitely needs a tune, why put parts on knowing its not going to make the car run better. especially when you mod out of order like a fuel pump before exhaust and intake

spend the money now and tune it before it costs you more in the long run.

I got my car scanne and I'm getting a P0234 code. Wastegate system malfunction/ charging system failure. So what else could it be besides the wastegate if anything? Is it ok to drive the car like this? My commen sense is telling me no even though it is driving perfectly fine right now.
