what are the best cams for low end power?

I've spent a few hours at least reading lots of threads and searching under terms. What is the best cam for low end power on an evo 8 with stock everything ( with an exhaust forthcoming soon)?
It seemed like Revolvers were a really hot item, but then there were quality control issues. From the dyno graphs that I saw, Revolvers looked like the best one for down low even though it was radical in its lift and duration. Then in later posts I see people saying that there are better choices out there, but they never state what they are.
99% of the time I'm on the street and living under 5k rpm. Thanks.

stock probably. You can also get larger cams and work on cam timing, that can net some extra low end torque but sacrifice a bit of top end.

Agree - we used a few different sets on the rally car (IE - where usable power with 34 mm restrictor was 3000-5500 RPM's) and the Kelfords did not let us down.

I was trying to figure out how to net some low end power because I'm in the same boat as you. I live life under 5k and yeah people joke and say I should have bought a V8.

Besides cam timing and the fore mentioned mild cam sizes, if you were wanting to put down some money you could look at increasing the displacement and running a 2.2 or 2.3 (maybe 2.4l)

I'm considering the same thing as a future mod to better match my driving preference. Although I haven't done any prices or extensive research in that direction.

I know that there won't be a lot of torque like a v8. It's a 2.0 L motor. It just seems like there wasn't a general board consensus on anything low end. I wish they'd do a cam of the year or something along those lines. It seems like a 264ish ( I know not all 264 cams of different manufacturers are the same) cam family has the most promise for my particular useage.

My take would be 272s. These are mild cams, u won't lose much low end/high end. If u get ur 272s done and in the future probably u might be changing ur turbo? I don't know but if u are looking towards that goal I'd say do 272s and u won't have to change ur cams the next time round

Ya might try 272/264 split duration. I ran these (HKS) nice lowend, came on hard around 3000rpms and was full on with the turbo.

Is there a difference in the 264/272 split vs the 272/264 split?

I think cam gears are in my future.
