Intake/Cold Air Intake?
I have a few questions to start off.
1. Does the 04 RalliArt have Intake available for it yet? If not can we use the same intake as the OZ's?
2. How big of a difference is Short Ram Intake compared to Cold Air Intake?

And me asking a question in the forums is a way of searching and finding answers. Which is why so many questions are asked here in the threads and why half the people registered on this site actually register to begin with

AEM Cold Air intake / RRM?
I was just looking at the engine bays of both the older OZ rally and the ralliart. Aside from the engine itself, everything looks almost identical. Does anyone know if the AEM cold air intake from the OZ fits the ralliart? Is the RRM intake CARB exempt / 50 state legal?
OK let me say a little something on the 50 state legal comments. This is something for mostly CA drivers, some other places but mostly here in CA. OK, all warranties are good with these parts unless the damage is DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE PARTS! In other words, if you blow a piston, they wont void your warranty because you have either intake or exhaust because those parts cant do that damage. BUT, if you submerge your car in water and you have a CAI and you hydrolock your motor...your warranty is void. I dont know of any reasons directly that an after market exhaust can void a warranty, but I am sure there is SOMETHING that CAN happen. OK, now for CA drivers, 50 state legal intakes are open for interpretation. I went to several smog certified shops and asked this very question and my responces varied. Some say that as long as the filter is all the way under the bumper cover and isnt visible, the intake is legal. Others say anything aftermarket will not pass a visual inspection for a smog test. Other places say that as long as all hoses are connected and it passes emmissions you are fine.
My advise guys, buy the one you want and make sure you keep your stock air box just in case. And on a personal note about warranty on CAI. My ex-girlfriend had a 99 RS Eclipse with the AEM CAI and she got caught in a flash flood in Florida. Sucked up water and hydrolocked her motor. The motor survived with only needing the fluids to be flushed a couple of times because I taught her pretty well. But the car was brought to the dealer with the intake still on it, and they looked the other way and did the work under warranty anyways. But my advise is to not tempt all those fates.
