Soon to be Evo owner; How well would this turbo work?

I'm currently scouring the web for an Evo 8/9 to use as a daily driver. However, I am also considering parting out my RX-7 project and using as many parts as possible from it on the Evo. Obviously only universal parts will work, one of which being the turbocharger. It's a Borg Warner S480 with a 1.32 a/r turbine housing with about 30 miles on it and a bit of dyno time. Has anyone used one of these on an Evo 4G63? How is the spool? Could it work well for a daily driven car? What kind of power potential does it have? I'm looking to make about 400whp at first, but want to have some extra potential in the turbo should that not be enough for my taste.

Here is a pic:

First things first... are you serious?

A S480 is a 80mm(120lbs/min) turbo. The thing is ginormous. Use that turbo if you are going for 900+whp. Spool is going to be horrible and unless you want no power on the streets when DD'ing it, then go for it.

Hmmmm... Well I wouldn't mind some turbo lag; wouldn't it be beneficial for gas milage? Additionally if I used it I wouldn't have to sell it at a loss since I bought it new. I think the hard part might be finding a place to put it since I want to keep the A/C, PS, and other accesories.

Unless you are going to build the engine in the evo so that it can rev higher, i wouldn't use this turbo. This size turbo is to be used on cars revving to 10k+

some turbo lag would not be the issue.... That would suck to drive everyday, and i bet you wouldnt get better gas mileage because you will have to be WOT just to keep up with traffic. Why dont you look at an FPred with a full tune and mild build

How do you figure I would have to maintain WOT just to keep up with traffic? It should be just like driving an NA 4cyl when the turbo isn't producing boost.

That would be a horrible turbo. That is for racing only. Plus your motor would have to be fully built and if you only have 20k for an evo then you def don't have 10+k to build a motor. My motor cost about 15-18k after everything was said and done. I wouldn't even run that turbo dialy on the road. That is just plain "not smart"

Like it has been said before. That turbo is for an all out build for racing as it would make way to much power for a stock block and head EVO.
