I'm not actually looking for a certain number of horses. I wanna be in the high 300's for now. I'm either going with bolt-ons or I'm keeping it stock til I'm done with suspension. I'm not a noob to this either I was just wondering some of your input on where to start. And I'm definitely not going to start like most people and putting my car in the hands of the Cobb AP. It's dumb and definitely not good to have your car not tuned completely correct. I'm going to be buying a set of coilovers next week :]

BTW if anyone was into DSM's before their evo's I'm one of those guys. Up til about 2 days after I got the X I got rid of my 92 Plymouth Laser AWD :[

I'm just sayin' that there's a basic number of things everybody needs right away. Since I just went through all this, and I'm new to the evo, my opinion may very well be wrong, but it's still what I think.

If you have 550 hp or 300 I still think you need most the stuff I mentioned earlier.. for me, since I just bought my car, I had a hard time figuring out where to start.. this forum helped me tons.. anyway, can't go wrong with the tires, clear bra, floor liners, exhaust.. right there you're way over a grand. While you let that hit your pocket you can decide what's next...and next after that.. and next after that...... really it's a never ending process. My impression was he was just looking for a place to start. I'd think you would be better off spending the grand or two on the basics before spending that much on coilovers.. get them later or just do rsb/springs depending on what your streets are like and what you're using the car for..

The funny thing is that the first X, 2008, came with a different factory tune, PIG RICH, that has been addressed since for more power and better economy. Humor hits when you CAN mod with some bolt ons and not really risk running lean. I've been modded with higher flowing air rates via the exhaust side for more miles than I drove it stock. 50,000 miles and this car loves me as much now as it did driving from the dealership.

Still, will be looking for a little more power and fuel economy with a trip up to Chi-town this next year.

Al little rich is always better than really lean or modded without tune. You get no power out of the mods you put on.

I agree that you have to have a goal in mind but for now that goal is low. I don't want to be getting that technical before owning the car for not even 2 months yet lol.

I thank everyone for posting up n helping me though!

It just depends what my (or your) priorities are when you have the options. I'm gonna go for suspension and get other things out the way first before going all power. That's just opinion and the way I wanna do it lol.

Worry not, you will get power out of the mods, bolt ons, without a tune. Not that you get ALL the power, but I have 9 1/4m slips, 6 before, 3 after the TBE. 7mph gain is definitely more power. (Each of the setups gave VERY consistent 1/4 mile speeds, 97.x before, 104.x after)

I'd love to get the power, get rid of the soot on the tips, and improve my fuel economy though. The tune is comin'.

I hear what your saying which is why I'm going to get the turbo necessities first: Boost Controller (should I go manual or electronic??) Wideband, and Gauges.

I'm going to disagree with you when it comes to springs and this is why. Why spend 3, 4 hundred dollars on springs plus labor when your gonna blow your shocks anyway? And then end up spending the money two times in a row. I'm going with coils because if I wanted to do springs and do the car cheap I would've bought a civic si..

Sorry for the double post!

UPDATE: Just got my car back yesterday from Monster Coatings in Bloomfield, NJ and it came out gorgeous. Got the front bumper, fenders, and couple other random spots clear bra'd (with venture shield 3M material)

Also, I got the roof done in a textured carbon fiber it looks gorgeous. I was hesitant because of the whole fake carbon look but it was def a great choice and all together a perfect first mod!

I'll post pix later!
