which intake/filter?

i got a stock evo 8 with a perrin panel filter. i also have a cobb cone which i took out since it was loud. i think i can manage listening to that whoosing sound now at the cost of more hp and tq if thats the case. so my question is, which one shall i use? i also havent had a tune and wont be getting one for about another month. i like to hear different opinions other than "thats a stupid noob question."

If your car is stock, then I suggest a K&N drop in filter. No tune needed with it and it works well for what it is. Plus you only have to clean it every so often and not keep buying one.

BMC Panel Filter has the best construction and has the largest filter surface area. I'm selling one for less than a third the price of the cheapest price on the net.

i wouldn't bother with a panel filter, if youre getting a tune in a month then wait until the day before the tune to install the cone filter.

I would run something like a samco/Perrin inlet pipe with your choice of air filter and adapter. I'm personally running a samco inlet with a AEM 5" adapter and cone filter, both of which I'm very happy with.

i read that article a few days ago...interesting stuff. i wonder how they would perform after a few thousand miles or right before cleaning time.

that one will not fit on your car, it will fit 03-04 since they do not have the acd.

I run a K&N drop in and I just modified the stock airbox to get her to take more air in and it works beautifully.

For air filter, its important to see the filtration as well as the tq/hp numbers.

Filter like the HKS may give good numbers, but reputated to have bad filtering. For a DD car, especially if I lived somewhere, where road can get dusty, i wouldn't even consider.

I have the Perrin but I am putting it up for sale because I just can't stand the sound.Makes my car sound like a vacuum cleaner.
For the power level I am at right now a Cosworth drop-in will do fine.
