The one thing is though, if you really want an Evo and you buy anything else you'll continue wanting an Evo and will end up buying one within a few years anyway. Just do it now and save yourself the money/hassle of switching cars again

i just looked it up and the gsr and sti both starrt at 33,995

The evo is way more than a 100 bucks a month worth of fun. The choice is clear in my opinion. Evo.

correct. If I'm spending over 30k it'll be for the Evo. I am just looking at the Rex because if I decide the Evo isn't worth the money then the Rex is comparable for cheaper. And you're in my head man! I think that exact same thing that ill always want it So may as well get it. I do worry that Ill get the REx and be thinking Evo the whole time. But who wouldn't want an extra 100 bucks a month

Again, he really wants an Evo but is considering the WRX as a cost-effective alternative.

If money is tight, have you considered a left-over new or slightly used 2010?

yea I have been looking at used ones. Even if I can get one out the door for like 25k its still going to be about the same price as leasing a brand new Evo. So instead of searching to find an unmolested used EVo I may as well lease new

Pretty sure I could buy a short throw for the Rex with the 100 a month I'd be saving.

My wife has the STI 5-speed short-shifter + bushings in her WRX and it shifts a lot smoother than my X (which also has a shifter + bushings). I also like the stock clutch better.

That being said, the Evo is faster and handles way better; all-in-all it's simply more fun to drive

The 2011 standard model WRX is VERY attractive to my eyes and to my wallet. I like that it is cheaper to own and maintain, gets better gas mileage, and looks better than the GSR IMO. It might just be the better daily driver as well (fewer fillups, non squeaky brakes, less paranoia). Red, short throw shifter, all weather mats, done!

hence my dilemma. Why do you live in paranoia with the Evo? And I'd go blue for the Rex.
