Silencer runs better........ ?

hey guys so i have a 2005 evo 8. my car is basically stock with a tbe and a few other small mods. i have a megan 02 and downpipe with an stm test pipe and ESpiller JGT500 Catback. my car always seems rough when shifting it would be rough not through the shift cable but in the throttle response. tonight i put my silencer on so i wouldn't wake my family and noticed tho it sounded like *** that it was a much smoother acceleration... is this just me being picky or have other people noticed similar things

sounds like you are just thinking it is running smoother because you cant hear the exhaust as well. I guess it could be possible that the extra backpressure is making it smoother?

I have one of those removable silencers, when the cabin drone gets too much on long trips I pull over and shove it in. I can't honestly tell much difference in power, but there is a difference in sound and "feel". It's actually nice to hear the engine rather than the exhaust sometimes.

So I'm interested too, maybe an exhaust expert can chime in on this one ?

Sounds like you need a tune. The silencer is most likely adding back-pressure similar to what the stock exhaust does which, if you're untuned, is what the ECU is going to like.

Ya but you know that a lil back pressure is good, keeps everything flow steady

You might as well keep the silencer in if your untuned, then just wait for your other upgrades to tune.

The tune will just allow the ecu to notice the changes u have made. It still thinks there's a stock exhaust on her.
