323hp on mustang looking for 400

323hp on mustang looking for 400

I have an 03 and made 323whp and 317tq on 25psi on a mustang dyno i would like to make 400whp from what ive been told the mustang i was on is rather low reading so i dont know where im really at. The tune shop said there mustang is 18% lower then another local dyno jet so that would put me close to 380whp sounds hight for a my mods if anyone has done it with my same set up let me know but 400 is my goal. here is what im workin with

stock turbo
stock injectors
stock injectors
all stock block as far as i know
255 fuel pump
hks 264's
25psi
intake
full exhaust no cat 3 inch
blitz bov exrternal
full pipe kit

I have a big fmic that i have yet to install and im not sure what way i should go to make the 400 without changing turbos. This is my first evo and first thread so any ideas would be great and anyone else running something simmular to me that can give me a bit of direction would be great Thanks

that must be a high reading mustang dyno. why are you unsure of the mods you have? bought the car recently?

i have the same setup except for buschur racing parts and kelford 272 cams and making around 360whp and 340 ft.lb.torque on stock 2003 evo8 turbo,block,injectors.

Meth might get you there, wouldn't recommend it though. I'd say your gonna have to upgrade turbo to hit 4's.

I put down 390 with my 9 turbo @ about 28 PSI

I made 390whp on a srock evo 9 turbo @ 30psi on pump 93 no meth so it's all in your tune really plus 25psi is lower boost levels so there is room right there.

I see people throwing all these numbers out, but the OP was on a mustang dyno. are all the numbers you guys are posting from mustang dyno's? some of these numbers definitely seem like dynojet numbers given the mods.

yeah the OP is a friend of mine and the mustang dyno he was on actually reads 13% lower not 18 which would put him at a more reasonable sounding 365whp 358wtq. But he bought the car used and other than the obvious mods we dont know about the internals but im pretty sure its all stock, befides a set of cams and head studs.

your stock evo 8 sits at 275 to the crank so to be around 325 on a mustang dyno is reasonable minus the cams and fuel pump u dont really have a ton of power adders so your readings arent gonna be super high . if ya want to get to 400 whp i'd get a set of 272 cams ported throttle body upgrade the fuel system (injectors, rail ,psi regulator) and get a quality intercooler . i'm getting a set of kelford 272s and supertech springs this month along with a tune on a mustang dyno i'll let you know what my readings are we have about the same mods , my 03 evo 8 has 3" turbo back , bushur street core , and a act extreme pressure plate with a street strip disk so are numbers should be relativly close . remember more air,more fuel more power .

i have to agree your numbers look like typical dynojet numbers as full boltons and stock 03' evo8 turbo and good cams will get you low 300 whp on a typical dynojet. then again ANY dyno's can be manipulated.

and yes you are NOT hitting 380whp on your evo, not even close no matter what octane you are running at 25psi. you will HAVE to change turbo to hit 400 safely. injectors is a must also. but i have to say meth and aggressive tune+alot of supporting mods have gotten even 03 turbo evos close to 400(i stress the aggressive!)

I baught the car used so that why I'm unsure of some of the mods but thanks for the advice and I'm going to def get some injectors prob like 720's a wastegate actuator since a have some creep and increase boost a few psi if I find a deal maybe a turbo but for now some miner mods and well see thanks for the ideas

go with 1000+ injectors and put that intercooler in also bigger cams will help alot.

You're going to need a larger turbo to hit 400whp on a Mustang dyno with pump gas.
