Considering moving to an Evo IX MR from my Supercharged Audi
Kinda an intro thread / getting to know the forum. I've been doing some research on these for a week or so. I'm not completely new to the DSM world but I have never owned one.
I work full time as a parts manager at one of the only shops around that works on foreign cars but mostly specializes in European.
Currently I'm driving my 1999.5 Audi A4 2.8l 30 valve V6 supercharged with a PES G1 kit. Has a custom tune for larger injectors, STaSIS coilovers, STaSIS center differential (50/50 but up to 80/20 torque split utilizing the torsen dif), shorter gears in the transmission, amazing clutch, and much much more. I maintained the car to last forever but now I'm tired of dumping money into it... Even though I know the moment it changes hands it will be flawless and problem free haha. This has happened to me before >.>

Previously experienced in swapping a turbo engine into my 1990 RX-7, doing the head gasket and timing belt on a 4G63 talon (7 bolt), and now supercharging an n/a motor. Not new to F/I and it's ups and downs....
So I'm hoping to trade into an Evo, particularly the MR's. Does anyone here have a warranty on theirs? What companies would you recommend for a warranty? I don't plan on doing much more then an exhaust and an intake on it. I will probably flash it but well.. nobody needs to know about that haha. Basically any mods will either be easily removed so that when things break it will no longer come down to me to fix it....
Hope to be an owner soon

Oh ya I also have a dealers license and was looking at this one

I have sold a couple of Penn Warranties to some people when I was sellng cars at the shop and they seem to be easy to work with, but I'm worried that even an intake will make them have cause to void the warranty. I know not all warranties can possibly be a joke so I am looking for one that's good. Even if it's $3000
The one I linked above is about 18k. That's the price range I'm trying to stay in. I was looking at a BMW 335i but 27k I just couldn't manage the payments easily. With the Evo I'm thinking I can handle the loan easily enough as well as look into getting a house (it's a buyers market after all!) I mean I'm only 22 but I'm working full time and it looks like I can get a 3 bedroom 2 bath house for about 50k.

I've never had to deal with Penn before, so I'm not sure if they are different or not.
I work at a very good repair shop in NY and have a few customer with aftermarket warranties. Most dont cover the parts that normally go bad (IE "powertrain" excludes all sensors, engine electronics, and accessories
) Pretty much, short of a catastrophic engine failure you're paying out of pocket. When they do cover they part, I have had a few companies try to force cheap aftermarket replacement parts on us, or even JUNKYARD parts!!!I would imagine that an intake would void the warranty anyway.
You should be used to paying an arm and a leg driving an A4 anyway. How was that timing belt

Lol I AM used to paying an arm and a leg.............. that's why I'm getting rid of it lmao.
Sorry about the link, I was pretty sure that "retail view" would be to link other people to but apparently not.

Apparently it's got an HKS exhaust and intake already though lmao.
And actually I find the timing belt a damn piece of cake! A lot easier then the Talon's was!
Hopefully I can find a decent warranty... I know they wont cover regular maintinance but I'll do the timing belt myself and regular maintenance myself just have the shop do unexpected repairs.

I was wondering why some had holes in the bumper. I should do some more research probably. I have no doubt this will end up costing me less in the long run though. I already have almost $9000 into the A4 in 2.5 years... that does include the price of the car and coilovers and supercharger though.
