how do you protect your car against theft

So after years of drooling over evos I finally got one which was stolen from me after five days of ownership. I decided not to get another one and started looking at other cars which aren't as wanted by theives. I couldn't find anything I like. So I am back to evos. I guess if they want it they will tow it, but what measures have you taken to protect your car. I had a ix but probably will get a x next. Btw I live in a nice neighborhood, I believe I was followed home after going to a local performance shop.

do your own custom kill switch in the car and have it hidden... did that in my civic that was a show car... could have the kill switch hooked up to the starter, ignition, fuel, etc...

Like you said man, if they want to take it, theyll just tow it away like they did my last car. So no kill switch, alarm, wheel lock, etc is gonna keep them from taking it. The best measure IMO is keeping it parked in a garage at night.

some people dont have the luxury of a garage though... kill switch is better than no switch! and and alarm isnt a bad idea also lol

Not a bad idea, just make sure to cut the right wire.

I have a club steering-wheel lock. I know they are easy to get around for thieves that know what they are doing, but it gives me peace of mind and I like to think it helps deter amateur thieves that are just looking for a joy-ride.

There are lots of alarms that incorprate an ignition kill in them. Or you can keep a junk yard dog in the car while you sleep. lol

Tracking device with kill switch like how they do with most luxury cars. You forget to pay a note the signal comes on so that you cant get it started, kinda like onstar. If you have moved it the same way you use a gps is the same way they track you to come back and pick up your ****. Its that simple.

Thank for your replies everyone. I am looking into a gps recvr with an active alarm and cutoff switch. I like the idea of an onstar style system, but there are monthly fees involved and I can't find a system like that for the evos. I like the onstars ability to shut down the vehicle like that tv show bait car.

http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/gp...e-logging.html There are also protable phones from motorola which use gps and you can have a connector like a cigarette lighter in a location of the trunk or under the carpeting which always stays in the on position even if you turnt he car on for a couple of days.

It will stay charged if the ******* is riding in it and you can track down your own **** instead of the authorities which are sometimes late. You can direct them there. Get a prepaid phone for like 40 bucks and pay 20 a month for piece of mind to have your car tracked through gps on applying a program app on it. Thats how i tracked down my last car in someone elses car in someones backyard ohboy did they get it.

I also use a dash camera. this helps me prove my case when dealing the authorities of profiling me just because of what I drive. They dont know because I dont tell them I have cameras in my car that way when they try to hit me with something, I just turn the video in making a copy sending it to to internal affairs complaint department and they go away.

Its easy for the officer and his partner to lie for each other in court against you but when you have it on camera they go away quickly ..quietly.
