I figured I would introduce myself, seeing that in the near future I will probably be asking a lot of questions (after thoroughly using the search function of course).

I originally owned a 07 Acura TL Type-S, hence to user name but sold the car last year. Fortunately, I'll be in the market for a 2011 OB Evo X MR.

My biggest fear in owning this car is the paint chip problem that seems to plague this car. Does anyone know if this problem has been solved? I was reading the "Official Paint Issue" thread and it seems to me like the problem has not been addressed completely.

If it has not yet been, I plan on investing in Clearbra / RA mudflaps, but I wanted to see what other owners were experiencing.

*noob question* People keep talking about the Aero kit on the Paint thread, but it doesn't seem as though the aero kit even an option on the '11 Evo X MR?

The thin paint and paint issues still exist. Basically, unless you're looking at purchasing a high end $50,000+ vehicle, many cars now have very thin paint, especially Evos and STIs.

If you are super concerned with paint damage, then I suggest you look into installing clear bra on your car. My M3 was protected with clear bra and I loved just wiping off minor scuffs, bugs and tar with no damage to the paint whatsoever. You should also look into mud flaps to protect the lower portions of your panels.

The Aero Kit is still an option on the 2011 Evos. The Mitsubishi website has them as options and my recent visit to South Coast Mitsubishi showed a couple 2011 Evos with pre-installed aero kits.

 

Hmm, I after 30k some miles on my TL-S I didn't really have problems with paint besides a few scuffs from other cars, bugs, etc. I did see that the thin pain was a problem on STI's as well.

A friend of mine had a clearbra on his AW e46 m3. It looked terrible because he hadn't washed it in a while, but after another friend of mine detailed it for him it looked great. I was just wondering what my options were.

The Aero Kit does not seem to be an option on the Evo MR. I just checked the website and although you can build the GSR with the Aero Kit, you can not with the MR... but maybe thats just the website.

Btw, were you on e46Fanatics? My friend is pretty active on that forum.
