New to Mitsu 2011 evo mr ordered & arrival apr 20-22nd

Hello all,

On saturday i ordered a 2011 evo mr in white. from Hyatt mitsubishi. They say that only about 90 have been delivered to canada . The one that i ordred aparently has just cleared customs in Vancouver on its way to Alberta.
Delivery expected in week and a half to two weeks.

Obviously i'm pretty excited. So much so ive spent nearly 15 hours in the last 48 reading various topics in and around the net, incl here
Id love to point out that there has been a tonne of great info on this site and that's why i've registered. Thanks for providing a great online community.

Heres the short list of past wheels.

first car 1986 Mazda 323 gt cdn spec 1.8L max speed was 215km ish @ redline. This was one of my favorite cars. if i could find a MINT 323 gtx id buy one for auto cross. The car was written off via a moving van backing in to it while it was parked on the road.

2) Hyundai Accent GSI 1.6L even though it was a slightly ****ty car it was fun to drive, great on gas and if you locked your self out of the car. you could break in through the sunroof. Traded this car in "upside down 3k" to car 3

3) 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT (looked like a 2000 saab 93) I had this car for 6 years. This car also turned around my View of Hyundai as being a **** car. I loved this car. First mod was done in the parking lot of the hyundai dealership after i got the keys. Honda Accord cold air intake Cut about 3/4 down the tube with a slight turn + coupling = Filter goes between the fender well and the front bumper behind the foglight. the install took about 45 minutes and i had like 2 mechanics and the service manager watching and learning. They loved the sound as did i. ONly thing this car needed despretly was an LSD. after exhaust intake underdrive pully apexi piggy back ecu + tuning it was running low to mid 14's @ 3700 ft above sea level, in the qm, I also installed a V6 tibby sway bar which makes the car very neutral and amazing for auto x. i drove the crap out of this car for 6 years straight. only needing oil changes break pads and a rear driver side caliper. After a very heavy hail storm the car was written off. i could have just taken a cash pay out but i chose to take the money and run. after 6 years i figured it was only worth about 4k retail. the insurrance company paid me 5700. i took the money and ran to my next car.

4) 2004 Volvo V70R This car was supposed to end up being my new Auto x car. 2.5L turbo 3 suspension settings very practical for a daily driver. heck went to ikea and bought full sized couch and it fit in the back. also had plenty of room for 3 people 3 snowboars and 3 sets of xc ski's with all of our gear for a 3 day road trip (no roof rack needed). it also could travel 780km fully loaded on 94 with rica stage 1.5 tune. With that said.. this is the only good thing about this car. yes it was fast.. my buddy's sti could barely pull from me and the only reason he could was the weight diffrence. I had this car 6 months drove 12000km and spent 10200$ on maintance and repairs. the car was so much of a lemon the dealership i bought it from bought the car back for what my loan buy out was. 22218$.

now nearly 32 years old with a decent job i decided to go after one of my boyhood favorites Lancer Evolution

Horrifed by the tiny *** trunk i'll be resorting to getting a roof rack thus getting even worse mpg than this car already gets. Since i race bicycles and also attend auto x events all summer long i tend to do alot of highway driving . I hear this car isn't that great of a "grand Tour'er" but we'll see how it works out. i'll put luggage in the trunk and my bike and wheels in the back seat.

I'm Looking forward to my new Adventure! ps the dealer is installing a k&N drop in filter.. can i expect to see any gain's at all in hp? or just a couple extra kilometers per tank? Also does the cobb tuning tool work with just a drop in filter.. i was reading their discriptions and it looks like id need @ min turbo back exhaust and sf intake. for their stage 1 tune.

ps since my parents are in the auto industry i got a bit of a discount. i bought the evo mr in white for $53250.00 in canadain $ they say it's worth about 57k ive got the 3m paint cover , under coating, leather seat treatment/warrenty and job layoff insurance on the loan.

i also presume that the other sales guy i was talking to is possibly on this site. thanks for your help. but it was clear that you weren't willing to work the numbers in our favor. For normal customers you did a great job of trying to get a sale. (wee too much pressure) but over all good, knowledgable and has a knack for reading body language. but for Customers who have been in the auto industry for 20+ years you should instantly know that there's no way we'd pay full price. Also knowing full well that there are more than just 2 cars. Saying that you have many buyers looking at these and that i only have a matter of hours to get my name on one. this was a deal ender. Never do this..

if your in sales you know full well theres other cars around. Do your customer a favor. Say that yes we can get you a car, but clarify that their choice of colour and options may not be avalible.

Thanks again for providing a great community for Mitsu fans!

Well i just got the call from the sales girl. the car will arrive tomorrow. they'll be doing the pdi, under coating, 3m protection. she says it will be ready for pick up around friday.! I"m getting rather excited.. been a long couple weeks.

currently driving a 1988 dodge caravan 2.5L non turbo which shuttles up to 8 foster dogs around. needless to say it will be a pleasure to get in a new car smelling car.

my step father is a member of http://www.arf.ab.ca/

ps i saw an "what age are you post" and was shocked.. at how young everyone was. these cars are 60grand (cdn $$$) full retail with options.. i'm 32 and figured the average age would have been 25-45 years old. guess its' a bit younger 16-30 ish..

great info on here!

They are a bit cheaper in the states - you can get a used EvoX for about mid twenties with higher mileage.

You should see average age of older evos (8-9), will make you feel OOOLLLDDDD. haha

Congrats on the pick up. You will love it. EvoX is a great car for Canada, all weather sports car.

Congrats on the new car, you are going to have alot of fun with it. As far as mods, if you go with reputable companies you will be just fine. I think you will also be suprised by how well these cars respond to mods.

Looks fantastic, congratulations. Just joined the MR ranks as well.

Regarding the HKS exhaust, I had the system. It's a quality piece and performed well. However, I later upgraded to a COBB system. The HKS was too quiet and the COBB is just perfect. There are loads of threads on exhausts, so search around and choose wisely

Oh, damn it's May and still snow.

the first gravel road drive seemed alright.. i'm sure with gravel tyres it could have been much more enjoyable.. but over all i was able to get to the bicycle race just fine.

Just a little update, After some fairly time consuming research ive decided on my first couple mods. Cobb Turbo inlet hose, keeping the mitsu box with the drop in k&N + cobb Acess port.

Still trying to decide on Exhaust now.. the shop ive been dealing with has quoted me on the HKS turbo back twiin pipe.. but i think i want a single pipe..

Anyone have any suggestions on Turbo back or catback exhausts that still have stock clearance.. I tend to drive a fair amount on gravel/back roads.. i dont want the new exhaust to get banged up or ripped off on a logging road.
