New to the Evo world!
New to the Evo world!
Hello all!
Let's get the introduction out of the way:
My name is Rhys (Reese)...and I am a tuner-aholic..
I have owned 13 cars since I was 16, some of which include a Lexus IS300, Acura Integra (3 of them), Honda Prelude and the last one was a 2003 Subaru WRX 2.0 turbo for about 1 1/2 years (rare sonic yellow, absolutely loved that car) until it became more of a "problem driver" than a fun to drive car. I sold that on 04/29/11.
So on 05/05/11 I officially joined the Evo world by buying a black 2004 Evo 8 5 speed for $11,000. The car was originally from California with the original owner, then was sold to the second owner in Washington at 54k miles. From there is was tuned at English Racing (I'm told very prestigious) in Washington to 20 psi at 57k where they also did the timing belt job.
Onto the CAR!
Here is what I know about the car:
- 96k miles
- "Hard" piping upgrades (I honestly don't know what this means, I think it has to do with intercooler and radiator hoses/piping..? haha..)
- ACT 4 puck clutch w/ 25k miles
- lowered about 1.5" (guess-timate, no idea what it is or what it's dropped on.)
- Manual boost controller (don't know brand, installed by English Racing.)
- Full 3" exhaust
- Full Recaro black leather interior (factory and in absolute MINT condition, no spots, stains or anything!)
- "Bigger" cams - first owner installed, second owner has no idea what they are and English Racing apparently just told him they were "bigger"..?
- Stock Enkei RS-6 rims
- Carbon Fiber front lip
Enough of that and onto the pictures!

I love this picture...so effin much...

Pictures of the engine bay will come soon, I haven't gotten to de-greasing and polishing/cleaning the engine bay yet and I want to do that first!
My plans for the future:
I have always wanted a "Time Attack" Evo - red and black themed and I am going to make it a reality! The front chrome Mitsubishi emblem has chipped and faded away (as you can see in the pic) - I will be painting that red, getting some time attack rims and then the "Evolution VIII" Emblem on the deck lid will be painted red as well. In a few years, once the car is more paid off, I will be doing A LOT of engine work - I would love to get it up to a 450-500 whp Evo
As of now:
I am on the hunt for some nice but not TOO expensive (anything within $1-$700) time attack rims - if anyone knows of anything that would be excellent! I am also looking into some nice headers - but as I stated before I know basically nothing about Evo's and am about to embark on a journey of research into as much as I can so I will get this car looking good! Also - there are two, I'll call them "arms", holding on the CF front lip and they are starting to rust and it looks absolutely AWFUL...
Anyone know where I can find those?

Thanks! It's black and shows scratches very well but I wouldn't have it any other way! Except white...
haha
Thanks! They do look small, I think because they aren't "colored" and also because it is lowered as well is the reason they look kinda small.
It is touchy as f**k, hahaha....I killed the car right off the bat at the test drive, and another 3 times since then... there is basically zero clutch play/travel to disengage (which is excellent) but to engage there is more than you think, but when that clutch grabs, it GRABS - and it is going to take me at least a few more days to get used to it. It's hard to explain but I took the car to my wife's workplace and watched the service runner kill the car 3 times in a row in the service drive, lol

There are 2 for sale by me that I would think would be decently priced right now. One is a 2003 black with 83k miles and a BRAND new clutch professionally tuned and pushing 287 whp for $13,500 and another 2006 I believe with 22k miles but he is asking $22,500 or something like that.
Thanks! I thought the wife did a good job on the pictures as well, made it look even better
Thank you! I am looking forward to immersing myself into the Evo world and hopefully coming out with a vast knowledge of the car and a well built one as well!
