is getting this evo a good decision?
she is not, so i cant verify that. Ill have $1000 to buy and install any parts belts/plugs/wires, what should i get ? whatre some parts i definitely need to change with that high mileage
Dont let the mileage scare you, IF the car has been treated correctly. There are plent of evos over 100k miles now and still running strong. If they are maintained well, the will run for quite a long time.
Although, I have also seen a neglected evo with 96k on it, and it still ran perfect! lol It was all stock , with the exception of a new clutch. The owners literally beat the **** out of this car, never had the timing or anything done.
Part of me says poor evo, then another part says, holy ****. A true testament that they are great cars, even when they havnt had the best owners. By the way, this car sold for 13k last november!!

She works at advance auto and 10 of her friends all have evos so I imagine her taking decent care of it, I drove it and it rode awesome, compared to my 6spd rx8 it was awesome, I don't know what to look for, and like black stains on the top lining, looks like someone worked on the car and put there hand on the top liner
carfax it.
11k is what an 03 with that kind of mileage should be getting, not an 05. there is some silver lining that she's not telling you about; that price is too low to not be suspicious

Yeah man.
If you are going to buy it for $11 and only have 1k to spend on maint. I would wait. It would suck for you to get it spend the $12K and find out that it needs something next week.
Like everyone said, get it checked, leakdown and compression on engine and possibly a boost leak test. Basically a pre purchase inspection, but that might cost you a few bucks to dig into your $1k.
As for high mileage Evo's, it's just a number............

I would shop around and get one with less miles. My 05 is a daily driver with 69k and i plan on getting another evo when it hits 100k. From my experience with cars less miles means less problems most of the time. Save up and get a stock 9 with low miles. Good luck!
i found and drove a 2005 black gsr with 106,xxx miles, with many mods, shes replaced a lot of things and has a 3' turbo back exhaust, and other mods. It rode perfect, shes selling it for 11k, is this worth it? i know thats low for any evo esp. and evo 8, is that high of mileage something i should be worried about? i dont know how long evos usual last, shes never abused it, brought it to the track, and always got the oil changed. IF it is a good deal what are something i should replace when i buy it? coils, plugs, wires? she said the only thing that needs to be changed soon is the timing belt. Thanks guys
