is getting this evo a good decision?

i found and drove a 2005 black gsr with 106,xxx miles, with many mods, shes replaced a lot of things and has a 3' turbo back exhaust, and other mods. It rode perfect, shes selling it for 11k, is this worth it? i know thats low for any evo esp. and evo 8, is that high of mileage something i should be worried about? i dont know how long evos usual last, shes never abused it, brought it to the track, and always got the oil changed. IF it is a good deal what are something i should replace when i buy it? coils, plugs, wires? she said the only thing that needs to be changed soon is the timing belt. Thanks guys

sounds like a good deal, but it's hard to tell with out actually seeing and being in the car. Just get a car fax and take it to a evo specific shop to get it checked out before you buy it, to save you a head ache once you bought it.

I wouldn't do it unless they had proof of all maintenance that was done or a shop that had it on file. I think these cars can last a good while just like any other car as long as all of the maintenance is done and it was taken care of. I would do a compression and leakdown test and listen for the diff or transfer case making sure they arent making any noise just due to her tracking it.

she didnt bring it to the track* sorry, also the only real downside to the whole car is the interior has a lot of bad stains, i think if i bring it to a detail shop they can try to get most of it out but the top lining, like right about the drivers seat has black (what looks like someone was working on the engine and touched the top lining) fingerprints on it. can that be cleaned?i know nothing about detailing a car, would i have to just replace the whole top lining? can that be done?

if the interior was badly neglected, chances are the rest of the car was as well

Just make sure maintenance has been kept up with. You can fix the little things over time. My brother just bought an 03 with 130k and its a great car still.

definitely take the car to a good shop used to dealing with evos. I personally don't like buying a car with a lot of mods on it but if it was well maintained and everything checks out I'd say go for it. it's also great to kno the previous owner wish I did.

If you buy this car be prepared to pay for a major service interval. The timing belt is supposed to be replaced every 60k miles.

STM sells a kit for $510, timing, balance, waterpump, bearings, tensioner... Stuff that needs to be replaced after 100,000-120,000 miles.

Is 'she' the original owner?

If not, how can you verify the car has not been abused?
