In need of financial advice
Ok here is the low-down. I am 20, in college (paid for by scholarships and financial aid) and im starting my junior year. I have an 87 camaro but I want a DD but i also want something quick (evo). I can afford a payment of about $500 a month but i would pretty much be a slave to the loan, putting all my money to my car, insurance, and gas. My other option would be to buy an older car, im thinking like an eclipse GSX or s2000 or something that will be fun to work on and last me through college until actually start working (mechanical engineering). I definitely want a tuner car as im very into cars which is why im going for mechanical engineering and i dont want to drive a boring *** civic. Is it worth getting the evo or holding off for a while and sucking it up and getting something less expensive to screw with while im in college?
i agree with him but i got a gsx for sale for 5g's

Definitely don't overextend yourself. I haven't had a car payment since '03. You may not be able to do that yet, but strive for it and only buy toys in the future with money you actually have. Started retirement accounts in my early 20s and it feels good to have an early start getting ahead. That being said, I'm looking at spending more than I thought I would on a 9! Good luck!
Just to start saving now if you can.....i had about 2/3 of the purchase price when i bought my car, makes things a lot more comfortable to live with...........main thing is, there are things you can never plan for that may pop up especially stuff that isn't even car-related

Sounds like you want a project, otherwise I'd suggest a less expensive Ralliart. Leave it mostly stock so it has a warranty. They have just enough power to be fun and you can just trade up when you're situated. If you add little stuff like wheels then most of those mods will bolt right up to your new X.

If you can afford an evo get an evo but make sure it is affordable and payments are within your means. I owned a car on a loan im in the process of paying it off now. Its not so bad if you dont have bills. The best thing is about my evo is that I worked on it and it is all paid off after I made the repairs. I own it it is mine without me making payments.
I say buy one that is smashed up that is not so bad and get it repaired and work it off that way. That way you already own the car youll get some experience working on it and you dont have a loan with interest to pay off in the end you get that experience 3 fold. You can save up on the repairs little by little getting experience on working on the car at the same time.

$500 car payment in college seems like a lot. I was in the same boat a few years ago and decided against it. I kept he car I had and saved the money I would have put on a new car. I eventually had a great down payment and much lower monthly payments. Any number of things can happen when you are in school that you did not plan for. Also, keep in mind he insurance, gas and maintenance payments are generally higher due to he nature of the car.
