Buying my first evo : )
Buying my first evo : )
Hello everyone, I'm new here at evolutionm.net, I have always loved evo's and have always wanted one. I own a 2010 mustang gt at the moment but am forced to sell due to me having two points on my record and insurance being insane. But i looked and an evo would be significantly less expensive. I have a couple questions for the experts here and I'm sure you've been asked this before.
Are there certain years I should stay away from?
I do plan on upping the boost and getting a tune. Is the regular evo better at handling the power more then the MR?
I really would love to have an MR because of the look and 6 speed. Are they better or just as good?
Money is not really an issue. So would i be better off getting an evo 9 then an 8? Or does it matter?
If you could answer any of these that would be awesome. Thanks guys

You'll love the evo if you get one. Ive had mine for a little while now and Ive loved every minute of it. I would get a IX. They have a nicer turbo and MIVEC which is nice. The fabric on the seats looks better also. The MR's tranny is supposedly a weak point. Some people have made lots of power on the stock tranny but many others have had issues with it. Insurance isnt cheap though. I have a clean record and mine went up a lot!
Sorry guys I got you beat. Had my license now for 5 years, no accidents or tickets and with an Evo8 with max coverage I only pay $65 a month through Geico on my own policy. Maybe it's just me but I got the insurance cards to prove it!
Evo 9 GSR's are amazing, i'd take one in a heart beat but I'm in love with my Evo8, and wouldn't trade her for the world! Its me and her until one or both of us die! (Seriously)

Its All on u bro, i jus got my RR iX GSR, one word to describe it...LOVE....i drove her from utah all the way to the south of TX in 26+ hours, went through the snow, rain, day, night, ice, wind, desert....And she still wanted more, shes like the one freak in ur life that will keep up with you in bed
lol, usually the one you marry!!! the car is a pure beast, its pretty much stock other than a mgnaflow cat back.... but honestly id go with the ix gsr, why pay a little extra for the mr? if ur gonna track it, ull eventually opt for a shep built 5spd tranny any way..., so jus make life easier and get a iX GSR, u still get the power windows and locks of a mr, but not as base as a RS, unless ur purely in it to track her and compete wit her, then go RS, hope i helped, PEACE!!!
