Thumbs up Another noob... Former STi owner :)

Just wanted to say hi here on the boards. I'm new to evos, definitely not to cars. Previous vehicles include a Z32 300ZX, 2.6L MB 190E, 90 NA Miata, 03 AP1 S2000, Stage 2+ 04 STi, etc. Just bought an 06 MR and I'm loving it so far. I do miss the low-end grunt and the blissful boxer exhaust note of the STi, but as soon as I can get the Evo to handle as well as the Subie did I think I'm going to like it more. New coilovers are in the mail, swaybars and tires will be next!

Tuned by Topspeed in Atlanta GA
Invidia o2 housing
Turboback exhaust
GSC s1 cams
ETS FMIC
ETS lower intercooler pipe
Injen upper intercooler pipe
ported exhaust manifold
Perrin intake
Tein springs
Hallman Boost controller
Hawk HPS pads
ACT 6 puck clutch
Other assorted goodies

Some pictures of the current evo and my last 2 weapons of choice.

Evo, next to the beater Miata (No good photos yet, haven't had the chance)

Good Choice! Yea if you ever take the Evo to a track with turns or autocross you will love it over the others you have owned for sure!

What makes you say that, out of curiosity? The Evo is certainly a great handling car, but the STi and S2000 are in the same league in my opinion. Even the Miata, despite its non-existent powerband, handles phenomenally. In fact, I'd venture so far as to say that these four cars are, dollar for dollar, some of the best handling cars in the world.

The STi had BC coilovers, Eibach 25mm swaybars, whiteline steering rack bushings and endlinks, Perrin SLS, Dunlop Z1 Star Specs, etc... It definitely gripped. My S2k had some suspension goodies as well. Right now the Evo handles terribly, but that's because it's on springs and cheap all-season tires.... which will be fixed soon!

Yea I wasn't trying to talk down your previous cars at all...I was just saying that the Evo on a road course is amazing! ...I'm sure an Evo on springs and all seasons feels pretty bad right now especially in the corners ...Star Specs are insanely good tires for the track when it comes to street tires...thats what I run on my Evo

Haha I didn't take offense at all or anything; I was just curious. All of them are phenomenal track / mountain road cars. And yeah... Corners are just downright scary right now. I loved my Star Specs but I think I'm gonna try Hankook RS3s this time around... the pricing makes them quite tempting!
