I know why the mustang let you down, they have the China made trans no more getrag trans. I heard there has been a lot of issues with the trans on mustangs. Other than that MR is a good car, friendly in traffic and the DDTC is a nice trans.

Wise woman! Evolution's are perfect when they're completely stock. Honestly, the majority of modded Evos (yup 97% of you on here) are not nearly as cool as a completely stock Evo. In fact, I'd say 7% of those are alright and the other 90% are all horrible (you know who you are).

No doubt, the MT82 is the weak point in the 11-12 Mustangs. I liked the shorter throw, it was shorter than the Tremec in the older S197s, and the box had closer ratios. With the 3.73 rear it was pretty sporty. But I missed fifth every single time coming out of fourth, and hit third again, it's not real precise. It's a wonder I didn't blow the motor up or trash the gearbox. And it has this annoying skip shift from 1 to 4 right when you don't want it, for alleged fuel economy. If I'd kept the car I would have had that deactivated and picked up a short throw shifter.

I like the Evolution much better, it is more suited to my driving style by far. And I really like the TC-SST, it is really slick. Strange that Ford hasn't put something like it in the Focus or Fiesta. They do have a dual-clutch box that is supposed to be a good one.

How did you possibly get a 10 year / 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The regular warranty is only 3 year 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5 year 60,000 powertrain. Did you buy the extended warranty? I'm sure that was pricey.

I did, and it was. What price peace of mind? This car is a keeper. It'll get to 100k right around the time I get it paid off, the way I drive.

great car, black is hard to keep clean. Funny no plans for mods... we'll see how long that lasts. I was looking to trade my ix for a 11 gt. I just couldn't do and glad i didn't

Congrats on the purchase. I was in a similar boat. I too have been drooling over and Evo for the past 6 or 7 years. I got a Charger SRT8 because my wife needed to drive an automatic. I ended up modding it with the intentions of making a car that could handle as well as an Evo. $10K later in suspension mods and I gave up. I traded it in a month ago for the Evo.

i can't remember when ford had a nice tranny in the mustang. maybe back in the old days of the the auto c4 tranny. i have owned a few fox body 5.0 and currently own one. i just replaced the tranny with a brand new t5 and i'm still not happy with it. the old one i down shifted into 2nd punched it, kicked it sideways, slammed 3rd and missed because of the great syncro's let the clutch out and heard the loudest bang. i lost 2nd and 3rd. had 4th and was about 1 mile away from home. i made it home all i had was a little bit of 1st till about 2500 and 4th. wow i was suprised i could go from 1st to 4th but yeah junk. lmao. when i got home to my suprise i even lost neutral. how in the hell could that happen, everything must of been laying around in there.

Congrats on the purchase! Welcome to the Evo world! At the very least, buy a COBB AP and call it a day!

I've heard that Cobb maps add something like 20 horsepower without changing a thing else.

Interesting.
