Another new girl in town
Yes, the title does not deceive.
I traded in a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0, guys. Yes, call me crazy as hell. It is the first time in my life I've traded off a car I only had for one year. I loved the Mustang, but it did not love me. Especially the total lack of vision to the left and the rear, and the 6-speed manual that I always seemed to shift into third when I was trying for fifth.
I have wanted an Evolution for years, but they're about as scarce as hen's teeth in this part of my home state, and I've only seen three on the road in the last ten years and two IX GSRs for sale at any local Mitsu stealer way back in 2007 when I couldn't jump on one. But then I found an MR at a stealer only 50 miles away and I decided to jump.
Enter the 2011 MR, phantom black, with a bumper-to-bumper 10y/100k for those times when you might have to replace a $12,000 transmission. I've never even seen an MR anywhere else but the Internet.
I like it. I like the TC-SST, where I can be a manual or automatic depending on my mood. I like the Recaros. I like the gold/purple flaked paint. It is nearly as fast as the Mustang in a straight line and it sticks to the road like it's glued down, even in the rain. I like the exhaust that booms when I'm slowing down. I like the BBS wheels, the Bilsteins and Eibach springs that jar my teeth over bumps without ever leaving the road. The Brembos can stop it in almost its own length, and it can pull a U-turn virtually without leaving the road. It has 4 doors, it doesn't look anything like what it is (people assume I'm driving a base Lancer unless they're car people), and compared to the Mustang, a big trunk. It's lighter, handles better, and is nearly as fast. With less than half the engine size.
Plus I get 23 mpg (assuming I leave it in "Normal" and auto, and don't put my foot in it too much). What's not to love?
Evos are similar to Mustangs in one respect: No two Evos are alike. All of them get modded in some way. But mine, I intend to keep bone stock. It already has the aftermarket stuff I'd be interested in, and that I was thinking about for the Mustang (Brembos, upgraded suspension, better wheels) It'll be REALLY unique then
and I won't void the warranty.
Glad to be here and it's fun to read about what all of you are doing with your cars.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new car. This car will not let you down like a mustang will. Post some pics of the car. What are your plans for the car? What do you plan on using the car for? Drag, Time Attack, ect....
Cat's 2011 Evo MR

I plan to use the Evo as my daily driver (it's my only car) and maybe do some autocrossing. I'm not planning any mods at all, save maybe adding either the 6-disc CD changer or maybe, just maybe the navigation system, sometime next year.
As it comes from
, my Evo has plenty of aftermarket goodness, what with the BBS wheels, Yoko tires, Recaro seats, Bilstein shocks, and Eibach springs. Its stock 291hp/300tq is plenty for me, more and I'm likely to get arrested.... Miao, Cat

A few tweeks and adds that things pushing 400 all on stock turbo. I said I wasn't gonna go over 400 in mine, being I just wanted add ons but now I'll make a **** ton of power and waiting to make more. Oh and that evo would beat that mustang in a straight line just so you know : )
The Evo won the day simply based on its drivability. I've thought about getting one since 2006, but when I had the ability there were no Evos to be had. We don't see a lot of them around here. Frankly, I should have looked harder for an Evo last year, I'd have saved a lot of money. Oh, well. You can't take it with you, and I'm glad I got an X before they cease production next year. I missed the chance to get a new IX, and I didn't want to repeat that.

Just to give props to the Mustang: it will go faster in a straight line and around a track:::::see car and driver lightning lap 2011 LL2::::
Anyways, love the X MR!! I am looking for the right MR White...welcome.

I don't plan to mod the car. It already has BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks, and Eibach springs. That'll do! Besides, I'm close enough to getting arrested with the car as it is...the X is wicked fast. Wicked. Fast.
I do want to get the 6-disc CD changer or the nav system, though. That's pretty much it.
