Afternoon... My name is Owen, but I usually go by Oface...long story. Anyway, joined quite awhile ago, fell off the forums thanks to personal ish, back at it looking for parts for my car. Having not met the 15 min post count required, figured I might as well start here.
I bought this car because I knew what it could do before it was imported here. I've also seen idiot after idiot rocking, and ultimately wrecking their subarus. I wanted to stand out, I wanted to be different, but in the end the only thing that really made up my mind was the way she drives. As precise as a surgeons' scalpel, as forgiving as an inept teenage girl, we became one from the moment I first slid my skinny behind into that black leather recaro, it was pure magic.
I am a life-long rally fanatic, and in two weeks I will be in Finland for the WRC race there. I hope to see Ken Block bungle yet another race, and I will simply shake my head in bewilderment as to why in the hell he thought he could leave the national circuit we have here with Rally America and play with the big boys on the other side of the pond. I digress...
I am a driver, I have my sport license with Pacific Raceways, and I have attended Dirtfish's one-day school. Both schools actually helped hone the skills I have been developing since I first turned the key at two years old. Passion? Nope. Obsession. I have a couple pics here of me screwing around and a video on youtube you can check out if you care.
The car (tina) as the g/f so aptly named her, was bought second hand from a dealer here in Kirkland, Wa. Mods included a full exhaust including downpipe w/stock cat, full intake, eibach lowering springs, and powder coated wheels. As soon as the first payment was made, I went with DBA 4000 series rotors, Hawk racing pads, and AMS stainless lines. Next up, the clutch which had an a/m Exedy street in it, i changed her over to the Exedy stage 2 thick face cera-metallic three puck. Streetable? Sure, but a pain in the *** in stop and go traffic. I didn't know I had launch control until two months ago when I dumped it for the first time on gravel...should've seen the look on my face
Anyway, plans for the future, getting those GARBAGE lowering springs out of there, and maybe some cams. Other than that, out of the box race-ready and worth every gd penny I've spent on her. Won't be changing much else, I hope to get out of the daily grind and someday make a run at time attack... Biding my time til then.
My background is in automotive repair, attended UTI in Phoenix, came back and started wrenching. While cruising my GSX-R 750 around West Seattle, some woman thought it'd be cool to pull out from a driveway w/o looking first, and well, splat went the bike, and my back. No longer a technician, I now write service for an independent shop in Bellevue, WA. I can still work on my car, at great personal pain, but hell, it's an Evo, and I won't let anyone else touch her.
So, that should about do it for the introduction. Here are the pics
