potential evo owner ...
hello every body, just wanted to get some opinions on getting an Evo. I always loved these cars and now I am in the position to buy one. the only problem is that a lot of the evos that are for sale have high milage. I want to ge some feedback from evo owners that have high mileage evos and hear some of your experiences. thanks everybody for your input and hopefully I'll be a more active member of the Evo community very soon .
I bought my Evo with 96k on it for less than $12k and I have never been happier with a vehicle. My WRX had the same mileage and was nothing short of the worst pain in my a$$, I dropped over $6k just to keep it on the road as my DD - so switching to this vehicle is like a blessing in the form of one of the sexiest cars ever created.
First thing I did when I bought mine was have the diff/trans/t-case/clutch inspected and replaced ALL of the fluids - I have had it for 3 months and not had ONE single problem or anything needing replacement or fixing. I put on roughly 2k miles a month too.

The only reason to be hesitant is if you are buying a used Evo with high miles that was beat on. That happened with my WRX, I bought it with 104k, not that bad, but the car was apparently BEAT on in the AZ desert which I didn't find out about until later - in a year and a half of ownership I dropped over $6k keeping it driveable.
The Evo I have now has high miles, as far as Evo's go, but I couldn't be happier with the car. It was daily driven it's whole life in CA and WA and then given to me. At 103k it burns ZERO oil and the only issue I have is a slight buzzing noise from the injector area and a weak and leaky stock BOV.
One thing you always have to remember is that the Evo is incredibly expensive to upkeep, especially if you are using it as a daily driver. You can't skimp out on parts or fluids. The transmission fluid alone for my change was $56, haha.
Like I said, if you find a good one you like have it inspected first. Take it for a drive to a shop you trust and have them check it over. The seller shouldn't have a problem with this. If he does then don't buy, he may be trying to hide something that can be found with an inspection.
My 9 week old kitten wants to put in his $.02 as well so here you go:

It's not your only option, if you look hard enough you can find a GEM. And by gem I mean sub 25k. I'm looking at a couple that are sub 50k. You can definitely find some nice evos. Remember you get what you pay for and the risk of buying a high mileage evo is fairly great.
