Maybe I'm reading too much into the text, but I'm a bit confused as to the ultimate point of the thread. I mean, are you looking for justification for your own purchasing decision, or for something to tell your friends, like it matters, or what? You say you love your car, Evo/STi discussions aren't exactly uncommon - you can read them here for at least a day straight - so where are we going with this?

I bought one because I actually wanted to make some power and a good time in the 1/4...

Ive also been into dsms since I was 15, so I had to keep going with the 4g

I was very close to buying a 2006 sti with 450ish HP. It felt great, it was super comfortable, but an inspection revealed a crack in the cylinder wall, and a cracked piston. I really like the 2.5, but it's really just asking for trouble. Changing the plugs looks like a total nightmare. Hell, changing anything looks like a nightmare.

If I had unlimited funds I'd get an STI for daily duty, and keep my evo for the weekend. I really don't like the evo interior, minus the seats and steering wheel.

Now that I think of it, what made me decide is, I pulled into a gas station one day and sitting at the pump was an EVO IX GG SE and I said to myself "what the F?@# is that?" and a couple of years later I was able to buy one.

I have had both, my 05 STI was awesome and I loved every minute driving it. I traded it in for my IX after the STI had close to 100k problem free miles on it. After having my IX for almost 2 years I would have a real hard time going back to the STI. The Evo is just better in almost every way.

I have always judged cars by their " handling" or agility... never by power. I have had the opportunity to drive both cars on a track day... and found that the Evo was a quite a bit better. I have yet to regret my decision.

Love the STI. I just picked the one with less issues. EVOs are more reliable, faster.
