Hi guys,

I own an Evo IX but there is an Evolution MR sticker on the back.Is it really an MR or did the previous owner just put the sticker on?

 

does it have a 6 speed in it? If so then it is a MR unless the prev owner did a swap.

 

Yes it's a 6 speed.

 

It should have a badge saying MR next to the gear shift also.

 

That doesn't necessarily indicate it's a genuine MR, that and the gearbox could have been swapped.. ultimately the only way to know is through the VIN number ( chassis number) since different markets got different version of the MR.
Post pics of interior, exterior that will help us determine what version you got

 

I was going to say gear box too but yea a lot of people do swap them.

 

Is the metal center section of the steering wheel black? Does it have billstein struts? HID headlights? Stock gauges?

 

Every evo 9 came with the black momo steering wheel, not only the MR...
Again, OP post pics, and look for the chassis number, that's the best way to know what model exactly you own.

 

only rs and MR would come with aluminum roof but i guess that's pretty hard to check.. hmm anyway i think chances are more or less fair that you do have an MR anyway

 

you could put a magnet on the roof. if it doesnt stick, then its aluminum

 

oh or that. pretty hard to replace a roof anyway.. going that far and you have an MR anyway so it doesnt matter by then

 

Well then the easiest would be to do the magnet test.I'll do that.I know it's got Bilstein shocks because i've never seen such thick shock shafts,looks like it came from a tank! The front right air vent goes to some fins on the gearbox,but maybe that's on all IX's.
