Newb from across the pond

whats up? my name is rick, just picked up an evo 9 last week. stationed in germany right now, and will be staying here. wanting to learn about my car and converse/joke around with everyone as well. i also have a 2003 Acura RSX that i have invested heavily into. im going to be taking pictures soon, right now the weather here in germany is straight *** and my cars are dirty.

not really new to the 4g63 thing, i had a 92 dsm, but obviously the 9 is a different ball game. definitely need to get the bov recirculating again, the previous owner has it vented.

also, and i hope this isnt against the rules, i wanted to extend an invite to my website, www.milteknik.com

we are a site for military enthusiasts and civilians. most of our members are here in germany. its a great way to get connected with the overseas scene.

i do have pics of my dc5, so heres a link

Welcome.
Question for you.
I will be getting my next assignment soon and would like to go to europe. I know there are many older evos in germany? I know there are tons in the UK. What are some of the nice older performance cars there? I don't want to buy something like as new an 8. Do you know anything about any of the other european countries like Italy and Spain?

not sure about italy or spain. theres TONS of jdm cars. a friend of mine had a evo 4 and another has an evo 6 so there is always a way to grab an evo. skylines and supras run rampant here too. just be warned, you cant take it back without federalizing it unless its at least 25 years old. dont buy into the bull**** these guys tell you. easiest way to find out is talk to vehicle reg.

another problem is the cars are usually some other service members car that they are selling to pcs. i dont know what it is about the military but its an endless punch bowl of ricers out here. guys have riced out something as nice as a r33 gtr with stupid crap like neons and big rims. half the time your buying someone elses disaster.

there are auctions in japan you can actually go to and get the cars for a steal. from what i understand at least.

check out www.milteknik.com theres a lot of guys there who know a bit more than i do

Yes I know how it is for importing. I also know well how it is buying cars from other service members. I've already bought someone else's disaster in this IV I have. I think most European countries I will be authorized vehicle shipment from Japan but I'm on the hunt for a TME right now.

Thanks for the info, an I will check out those forums.
