My Used Evo
I am currently located in Germany. I just recieved my EVO X. Its a 2010 GSR with 18,590 miles on it. I recieve it from the shipping company and immediatly I notice when I let off the gas and its still in gear there is a nasty rattling noise, I push the clutch in its gone, I push the gas its gone as well. SO my question is has anyone else experienced that? After that we crawl under the car and notice its covered in oil. Its not engine oil. It smells like its from the differential. The first place i can find it is on the back bottom of the transmission. The car is amazing looking and drives like a go cart. push the gas it goes turn the wheel and hold on!! I absolutley love it. However in Germany the dealer won't honor the warranty and German Mitsubishi won't honor the American Manufactors Warranty. Any suggestions? Once the car is back on the road i will get plenty of Autobahn pics and videos. Thanks, Jyles
So we got the differential broke open. The seal was borken so it got hot now there is metal shavings in there. hence the rattling/grinding sound. the mechinic is 95% sure that the differential is the problem. Waiting to hear back from my lawyers about the lemon laws in texas. There is still the possiblilty the transmission has damage. before he cracks that open i need to know who is paying for this work and if we have to send it to 1 of 10 EVO specialists in germany.
Thanks for all your input though. I will keep you posted.

So a horrible update today. We pulled the transmission drain plug today. Chunks of metel and liquified metal pouring out. The tranny is shot. The car has 18,500 miles on it. I am sending it back to the dealer in the states. Its going to cost another $1700 to ship. But if it has those problems with those few miles whats going to happen 5000 miles down the road. So sad right now. And terrified to buy another EVO X....

I hate it for you but buying a used Evo is a risky proposition. Chances are it was flogged like a mule by some clueless idiot and what you are seeing is the result. Probably launched routinely with poor technique.
More of a problem with the prior owner than the car design itself.

The Evo is just one of those cars I would never buy used unless it came with a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty with purchase. Good luck OP. Keep us updated. Where in Texas did you buy it from?
