How to Identify Tuning Device
Recently a friend acquired an 06 MR, it's got quite a few mods, including a 3582r with the AMS install kit. Question is, how do we know what has been used to tune it? There is nothing obvious like an AEM unit, but it idles fine with pte 880s. The dealership didn't know what the tuning system was when he bought it. Also, I suggested we tune it with EcuFlash because I already have a cable and evoscan ect. but we don't want to mess it's current tune up. Also, it not an extencive tune (I'm guessing) due to the fact it's reading a 10.3-10.0 on the AEM wideband in boost, which is really close to (or is) the stock map. We also need to know because I was going to have him buy the tactrix cable and if it has something else and he only needed something a lot cheaper it wouldn't be cool. Ha.

Did you see if the ecu is a stock or AEM? Physically ??
Also, how do you know they are 880's?
You can always get a tactrix cable and start with ecu flash to determine.

We physically saw it is a stock ecu.
The car came with a Mods list, just missed engine management. We can tell because they say precision on them and they keep 10.0 afrs with that 35r upwards of 20 psi and it has a ~14.7 idle.
So changing the ROM won't cause any ill effects if it's tuned with something else? Let's say they used an accessport to scale the injectors and we started changing things with ecuflaschh, they won't counteract or anything right? Or we could completely wipe out the tune and have to start from scratch.
