Hi everybody! After a long 6 month pursuit of finding/purchasing an Evo, I finally got one! I overpaid a little but there just hard to come by in this area, especially bone stock!

Moving up from a 97' Eclipse GSX, and have so far read some valuable information and just wanted to show my gratitude and appreciation for everyone on this site! And my god is this thing a beast, I have no idea how you guys handle the 500HP+ Evos...I had a bit of an ego but the Evo has certainly put me in my place Can't wait to start modding this thing (slowly, piece by piece, and tuned of course).

I know, could they come like this stock or is that aftermarket? The bottom of the car is outlined in black also, I'll like it one minute then the next I don't. It does look nice with the black on the bottom front bumper though I think.

 

all the black you see on there is someone's work, none of it is factory

the front lip doesn't look too bad, but i'd get the rest of that black off there asap!

 

Well I may have to live with for a couple of months, until I can afford to change it. Think I should keep the front lip, side skirts, and back the same or just make it all white?

 

Hey congrats on getting your new Evo!! Its cool that you found one bone stock too. If I may give my opinion, I think you should put everything back to being white. The black makes it seem like the previous owner was trying to achieve some variation of a panda theme.

Okay okay, I get the point, the hood is hideous I didn't do it! And I just got it Saturday...give me time, I will get it back to all white, trust me


I do have a quick question, since I will be having fun in it, I know when you launch you should never "dump" the clutch, but what about shifting into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th? Do you also "feather"/"slip" the clutch or is it safe to "dump" the clutch after the initial launch? I feathered my GSX at launch but typically dumped it after the launch and never had any troubles with it (Have owned it 5 years) but I want to make sure I take care of this baby right.

 

Slip the clutch if you dump the clutch you will pay for it big time im telling you. Just drive it nice and easy the corners I love this car in the corners.

The reason why it's painted like that........(c'mon you can guess it)............ P-A-N-D-A! Just don't paint the side mirrors or the circle will be complete! I'm not joking I bet the OW really was thinking Panda-theme. Perhaps PETA.

Congrats! And I agree switch the black back to white when you can afford it. I'd also recommend if you really want to get to know your car well, don't mod alot and go to some auto-x or hpde in your area.

 

Exactly what I'm doing, I put about 4 hours into reading/researching last night and am going to continue. I've been driving it for pretty much 2 days straight to get to know it. I did drop the clutch in it yesterday to test it out (please don't judge).

The good thing is, it came with a 3 year warranty and the dealer is putting a new clutch in it for me the end of this week! And thanks everyone! The good news is, it's similar to my GSX so I've been learning very quickly.
