New in FL

Hey everyone,

New guy in Jacksonville, FL. Probably picking up my first Evo this weekend Been out of the fast car thing for a few years and its pretty boring not having something fun. Had a couple of Supras (both 6 speed, 1998 with mid 400s whp and a 1994 with just under 900 whp) so modding turbo cars isnt new to me.. I started getting into motorcycles and made a stupid mistake by selling my last Supra for a BMW M3 which I hated.. Then bought a Range Rover because I needed 4 doors which was fortunately totalled a couple of weeks ago. Found what seems to be a good deal on an 03 VIII with minor mods and low mileage that I hope to pick up this week! Look forward to learning more about these cars and maybe meeting up with some of the locals, I see Evos fairly often around here

Any advice to a first time buyer/owner that isn't covered in the stickies that I should be aware of?

Later,
Chris

I personally wouldn't want an already modded car. But that is definitely a clean clean car.

Welcome to the area. Theres some decent cars out there that are modded properly. It saves quite a bit in the long run.

Its a 2003 that I saw on Atlantic Blvd. Its at a car lot that always seems to have Evos and STi around. The guy I spoke with said they specialize in Evos.. Not sure how true that is, but I have seen a lot of them come and go thru there. Are you looking at any?

Ive bought some modded cars in the past. Not always bad, especially if its modded in the same path you were planning to take and you really check it out for issues to make sure you arent buying someone's failing project.. Saves a good bit of money if its done right.

I saw that one on craigslist I believe. I picked one up from a guy in GA about two or so weeks ago.

I just looked and yeah its on there now. I saw it just driving by and ended up finding it on autotrader. Its mildly modded. The dealership claims it has an upgraded turbo.. I asked what size and he said stock is 30, this one is 40. I didn't know if that was Evo-specific terms or dealership guy just saying stuff. Turbo didn't look upgraded but Im not very familiar with Evos so I took it as being a stock turbo.

Congrats on yours... Got any pics of it/details?
