Is this worth 22k?

Like the title says is this
Evo IX worth 22k? Or could i get more car elsewhere?

*Backstory*

I have a 97 honda civic turbo. I love the turbo, love the handling. I thought i wanted a BMW 335, but when I drove it, it was smooth, and didn't have the kick in the pants like i really wanted.

Went to look at this EVO IX, first evo i've ever been in. And in short, it was exactly what i was looking for performance wise ... Basically my civic on steroids.

Thing is, i don't know **** about EVO's, i don't know if this one is the MR, SE, or something else. All i know is that it's fast, and it unfortunately has modifications that I dislike. Such as a huge loud exhaust, Aftermarketg HIDs(wish they were standard) Stupid custom stereo, etc...

So the only reason i'd scoop it up is that if it's a killer deal like the guy is making it out to sound. Obviously Deals for "Dealers" and deals for P2P like us are different.

So any help is much appreciated.

Thank you

I would stay away.

22k is not bad for a stock evo IX, but that is hardly stock. Who knows what was really on that car before the previous owner sold it.

yea the mods really killed it for me..

Do you know what model this Evo IX is?

And are all Evo IXs (stock) just as fast?

I don't know why, but 276hp in an EVO did not equal 300 hp in the BMW 335 i drove. The EVO was much more exhilarating

The Evo you test drove is definitively not 276HP, because
with intake exhaust and test pipe its easily over 300 Plus. Not to mention if the ECU has been flashed maybe another additional 20 HP.

I didn't drive it, only sat in the passenger seat. I'm not sure if it was a 5 or 6. I do know that it didn't have HIDs though or fog lights...

The car didnt look like it had fogs or the CF handbrake and MR badge on the center console, so going off of that, I dont think it was a MR or SE. I think this one is a regular GSR. This one isnt close to stock as well. With those parts in the engine bay, Im pretty sure the previous owner reflashed the ECU. So for 22k, I would stay away from the car. Its nowhere near stock and I would only consider the car if you have a complete mod list. If you really want the car, I would suggest doing a full inspection of the car first and bring along someone who know about the car to help you out.

yea i told the guy from the start that the mods are a huge turnoff for me.

But at least know i know that an EVO is definately an option for me (performance wise)

What is something like a slightly modded GSR going for ? like 15-17?

He's saying teh KBB on the car was 28k, but .. thats probably for an MR ... right?

no the 2006 evos still hold there value altho you can find some great deals at times .. the evo 8 are priced lower i seen them go from 11-20k .. for 22k i would look at other 9's

Pricing really depends on the area. It would be very difficult to find a X for even close to 22k in my area.

not too bad for that car...although the listing is wrong...says the exterior is 'black' when it is clearly graphite grey....

if it was 6spd it was an MR version
if it was a 5 speed then it was an SE...but those didnt come out until later..

too many things just dont fit...doesnt have the right wheels to be a MR as they came with BBS wheels, mods are not really a problem, but it doesnt seem like they are done right...so who knows what lies beneath....

thats about right for the blue book...however, with that said, it is mileage or lack thereof, is what is keeping the value up. hell, my 04 SSL evo 8 has only 31k miles and my KBB value is right around 24k for a private sale......just buy mine and i will be happy. nothing wrong with my car....just dont drive it....as it sits in a warm garage....

Not all true. The intake and exhaust dont add power to a stock Evo. You always have to tune the car to gdt actual power out of it. Just sayin

I would never pay 22k for a base gsr Evo ix espiecally in that condition.

This is very true. I'm having a hard time trying to find a buyer at $24k for my X. That's one of the lowest prices out there for one, especially having under 50k miles.

Looks to me that it's a Evo ix GSR not SE or MR. The mileage on it is not that bad, I would buy it if it runs good and everything else checks ok. Take it to an evo tuner shop maybe they can look it over.
