Is this worth 22k?
I agree that its probably a gsr, although it has mr pedals. The only way to know anything about the car is to have it gone over. It could be rock solid, or a time bomb. There's no way to tell from the pics or the mods. Comp test, leak down test, boost leak test, how the tune looks.... These are things that will tell you how healthy or unhealthy the car is. Is the price fair? If you're willing to pay it, then it is.
thanks for the help.
right off the bat the car didn't start. He said something is draining the battery and he doesn't know what.
I now see that it's not unheard of to see a car like this priced this way.
If the performance on this was anywhere near stock, then HOLY ****!
I love the seats, love the boost, but the mods to the car aren't worth it.
I'm not gunna buy this one ... but now i have to decide between an EVO and a 335...

yea i told the guy from the start that the mods are a huge turnoff for me.
But at least know i know that an EVO is definately an option for me (performance wise)
What is something like a slightly modded GSR going for ? like 15-17?
He's saying teh KBB on the car was 28k, but .. thats probably for an MR ... right?

If you are choosing between an Evo or a 335, it really depends on what you are looking for. I was born into a German car-enthusiast family, so I can tell you that the 335 is more refined compared to the Evo. What I mean by that is the Evo always has that sports feel no matter how you drive it and the 335 doesnt feel as sporty, but remains planted when you drive it hard and has lots of power for when you feel like stepping on the gas. The torque and power curves are entirely different between the two cars, so numbers on paper dont help as much. I hope this helps. I myself wish my neighbor was selling his 1-Series M. That car is a lot of fun to drive.
The Evo is a great performance car. Its hard not to smile when the turbo kicks in and the AWD feels so nice around the turns. Even an ECU reflash on a stock Evo is pretty awesome. That price range for a slightly modded GSR is accurate, but mostly for the VIII. IX's hold their value better compared to the VIII. For 28K, I would think the salesman was thinking about the value of all the aftermarket parts combined with the street value of the car.

I drove the 335 today AND the EVO. I actually had to drive the EVO after i didn't feel anything special from the 335.
I want to get away from the "Ricer" status, which is why i like the BMW. However, i like the RAWness and power curve of the EVO.
If i could find a similar power curve and hard hitting suspension like the EVO in a lux car, then i'd be set

$28k for an EVO IX MR is not out of the question for a car with 40k on it.
These cars have really held their value, more than my Old subie. Just with the demand alone I can get almost $14k for my '03 Evo.
The evo is a great car coming from the Subie. With your test drive, you know the potential of the car now.. Getting a stock evo to 300whp is easily done with minor bolt ons. 400+ can be done with a upgraded turbo and fuel system. Once you get above 400 ftlbs of torque, you start breaking stuff in the driveline which gets expensive quickly.

i test drove an EVO X today. It was nice, but not as comfortable as i wish it was.
it was a 2011 w/ 21k on it for 28.5k ... i got them down from 33.9k.
didn't dig the color, and i also don't need a 2011.
sort of thikin maybe an 08 GSR or something

I paid $21k for my IX GSR with 43k miles and it had a full titanium 3" exhaust. I don't care about the red stitched seats so an SE didn't matter to me. I bought some bbs MR wheels and an SE lip and now have the extra look for a fraction of the cost. I'd get an evo with a good base to it and go from there. Make it your own.
I think you should choose an Evo if you didnt feel anything special from the BMW. The BMW will get boring fast. I think the X is as comfortable as an Evo can get stock wise.
