Smile Need suggestions

I just got my 2003 Evo8. I am new to the Evo world and I don't know much about mod. I need more power on my evo, How should I start modifying my evo? Tuning? Intake? I don't have a lot of budget so I can't make all at one time.

Forgive my bad English. I'm a international student in LA.

Thank you all for reading my thread !!

Shaun.

1. Is your Evo stock? If yes, are you sure it's stock?

2. If no, then you need to find a shop that specializes in Evolutions, in your area, and have them check out and retune the car.

3. If the car is truly stock, the basic mod path for a VIII is a TBE, fuel pump, IX DV, MBC and a tune. Good luck.

Thanks FJF!

Since I am new to the mod world. I don't know what DV and MBC stand for. Is there any thread list Abbreviations ? Is MBC stands for Manual Boost Controller?

Yes.

A DV is a diverter valve, or what some folks refer to as a BOV (blow off valve). This is what you want:

Keep two things in mind: The more you stray from that list of basic mods, the bigger the chances of compromising drivability and reliability, and that a tune will make or break the experience. Choose your tuner carefully making sure he specializes in Evolutions. This is crucial. You also want to explain how you use the car to your tuner. If you don't mind a suggestion, don't ask him for max power. Focus on a safe, reliable, smooth-driving tune. Good luck.

An upgraded FMIC won't give you big numbers on the dyno with basic mods, but if you drive aggressively especially in a hot climate, a FMIC can allow for more consistent performance and a bit more leverage for tuning. FWIW, I have a Buschur FMIC on my car.
