What are your thoughts on buying used evo?
I've decided that I want to get a car for my self, I live just right outside chicago 30 mins away, tired of front wheel drive(vw jetta). I need something that will be great for rebuild in the future and that will hold up on the road. I've been seening evo 9's at dealers with 90k on it for just about $20k. How long a typical 2.0t last on mitsubishis? Is that a but steep price for that mileage??
Thanks for your time.

You can find one with a lot less miles for $20k. I got my MR with 65k miles for $20k, and that certainly wasn't the best deal out there. Buy one as close to stock as you can, the more stock the car is the more reliable it will be. There are a few threads floating around of people lasting more than 250k miles on the stock motor.

ya most likely, my car was a 13 hour drive away from me. A good car is well worth making a weekend trip. I actually found mine through Yahoo Autos. Be sure to check around the for sale section here as well.
Dealer with low mileage'd EVO's overcharge by alot, and in some case's the stock evo's are worth more then the modded one's. I bought my 2006 MR for 31,000 from a dealer. I paid that much cause it was bone stock and it had 10k on it at the time. It was worth every penny!

Audis are nice, but EVOs hold their value because a lot of people wan't them. More people know what an evo is, or at least confuse it with a WRX/STi than know what an Audi is (other than a car).

If you thoroughly inspect the used Evo, then it should be ok. It may be a good idea to hire a mechanic to inspect the car with you, or if you have family/a friend who is mechanically inclined they could go check it out with you.
As mentioned in another post, if I were looking for a used Evo, I would be looking for stock or as close to stock as possible.

man I found this one, loving it so far. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1
Yes, the demand for the car itself, cause the prices to be what they are. Like most cases, the dealer probably bought that car wholesale price and marked it up. If i were you, id keep looking, for 20k you could definitively find a nice evo with less mileage.

That sounds steep. Not to sound like a troll but Ill be selling my 05 red with the ssl package and 51,000 miles for $23000. Mitsubishi builds a good motor but any unexperienced driver can wreck it from the inside out.

That is a damn good deal, pick it up ASAP! Be sure to get a spoiler though!
