Would it be possible to drop a 3000gt engine into a 02 OZ lancer?

its a 3.0 liter dohc six that almost dosent fit in the 3000gt/stealth engine bay hell you gotta take the intake manifold off to get to the last 3 spark plugs oh yah in the base model they had a sohc 6 but it was garbge put out like 175 hp

the only v6 you can fit into a usdm lancer is that mivec sohc v6 from the FTO

it is a high reving v6 and barely fits, but i know it has been done in puerto rico

yes the 6a12 out of the FTO but dont forget about the 6a13tt out of the Galant vr4. In both cases the mounts of the subframe have /should be welded to the frame, in either case its doable.

why not just take a 4G64 unit (you should be able to get on for around $250 so i hear) and bolt an EVO head and stuff on. there you go a 2.4ltr turboed unit that many a EVO owner would be proud to have (im trying to see if one will fit into the evo)!

I have seen that done in 7gen galants. Not to many people have the ***** to do the work like. Magnusmotorsports had a 2.4L Dohc for sell some time ago not sure abuot now.

You mentioned getting the 4g64 for a good price but think about how much you will spend on the heads off the evo! There are members here that will sell used parts for new price (stock seats for 800 bucks..not in this life)

As mentioned, somebody had done the FTO 6A12 V6 swap into a previous gen Lancer (Mirage) engine bay. However, that was not the same engine as the GTO ones.

I wouldn't say it is impossible to do the swap; just not very likely on a regular budget.

My view is to build up what you already have in the car or maybe a 4G64 swap....

Its the 6g72 engine. Theres a few different versions. There's a 16 valve version that was in older Galants, Avengers, & a few other cars. There's a 24 valve version (SOHC) that's in the newer Galants & Eclipses.

Point blank, if your budget is are large as your imagination then anything is possible. Now if your still recieving allowance, your job consists of say "how can I take your order." Or living check to check a custom motor swap is not finacially in your future!! If you have to ask does it bolt up, it really shows you have done no research on your own.

There are *without a doubt in my mind* people on this forum that have done a swap on another car but an Evo hell no what would you swap to??? maybe a 2.4L block haha

to stop anyone questioning my creditability, well 99 galant now has a 99 galant vr4 motor went from the 4g64 to the 6a13tt.

i have a 96 lancer 1.8l (4g93) and was trying to drop a evo engine in it. i was wondering if the 4g63 engine mounts are the same as the 4g93 mounts.

The EVO IV-VIII 4G63 has the same orientation as the 5G Mirage/96-01 Lancer 4G93...but it's not as simple as plug and play...

I encourage you to read this (scroll down to the engine swap part):
