Scam or not a Scam??
Scam or not a Scam??
I have a buddy that is selling some wheels and tires in Ohio, now he has a buyer in Cali. im not sure if this is sketchy or not but the buyer i asking for the paypal emil of coarse and asking for his full name and address for his private pickup agent to pick up the wheels and tires from his home. Im not sure if this is weird since i have never heard of this happening or are we just kind of retarded and think the worst of people?
Thanks
Thanks
Sounds fake. I usually get those type of email all the time when I sell stuff on Craigslist. They don't try to negotiate, they don't ask many details about the item I'm selling, they offer paypal and tell me someone will take care of pick up. I just delete the email.
oh I see. I would still kind of be iffy, especially if he said "agent". I have had people from other states hit me up on stuff I've sold here in California. California usually had a lot of decent stuff for sale I guess, and people always seem to have friends that live here. I did sell a bike recently and a guy sent a friend to pick it up but I made them pay cash.
Just try to make a judgement call. Does he seem truly interested in the wheels? Has he used any words that normal car gurus would use when talking about wheels. "how many miles..."scuffs, curb rash, offset" etc etc etc.
I would suggest that you tell your friend to some how transfer the cash to this "guy" who's doing the pickup. That way you can just get paid cash.
I'm not really sure how the scam works, but they paypal u the cash, but I think paypal thinks the money is there, and when the find out it's not really there, they take it back leaving you with nothing.

Oh i know cash is a lot easier, Im not sure if the buyer have said anything about the rims but i just have never heard of anyone with a "shipping agent" to come get parts. maybe if he would annotate in paypal that someone is coming to pick them up he wont get scammed, considering its for over $1000.
